Safety first! We love this festival!
Thank you Andrew Wallace for sharing this amazing picture! To give an explanation of why only one balloon inflated tonight. The Touchstone balloon was equipped with a special tether harness that was attached to three large Frontier Power/Propane trucks. This harness keeps the balloon stabilized. The other 7 balloons that were scheduled still wanted to do something for the crowd so came up with the idea to do a candlestick glow closer to the crowd. We loved it!!!! The roar of the crowd on this first “all burn” and spectators could feel the blast of heat was great fun. We know many are disappointed and upset but please know delays are not to keep the crowd spending money on the midway; it is in the hope that the forecast might change. We’d hate to cancel early only to watch the conditions improve. Thank you so much to all our wonderful sponsors who continue to support us so this festival can remain FREE. They apply no pressure to the organizers to not follow the safety guidelines we’ve adopted. We are so grateful for their generosity.
