Harry has been a mainstay at GJJA for the last 7 years. Starting out in our children’s program he took to grappling immediately. There’s something special about the kid who’s always there. Resilience is something our students constantly work towards, a rare few are born with it. Harry has one of the strongest mindsets I’ve ever experienced in a young man. He’s constantly learning, thinking and convincing himself and everyone around him that he’s undeniable. He flew through the children’s ranks and piled up a great deal of competition experience and hardware on his journey. He achieved the rank of Adult Blue Belt at age 16, because it was undeniable. Harry has been my right hand teaching children’s classes, being my go to Uke and private lesson assistant for years. He remains one of our adult class most respectfully avoided rolls, simply because he’s such a handful to deal with. As he transitioned into high school, to no one’s surprise, he joined the Rye Country Day Varsity Wrestling program. Where he continued to flourish, grow as an athlete and be named Team Captain both his Junior and Senior years. This fall Harry will be entering his Freshman year at the University of Chicago, easily one of the most difficult schools in the country to earn acceptance to. Where he will study philosophy, specifically ethics and the philosophy of religion. Known for promoting intellectual curiosity and rigorous academics, it should be a perfect fit! We are all so proud of what Harry has accomplished both on and off the mat and equally excited to see what the future holds. Im sure we won’t be surprised…keep going young man!!! And good luck this fall!!!
