Indian Creek Trail

Indian Creek Trail Indian Creek Trail follows the creek through Corydon, Indiana, connecting the YMCA with Hayswood Park Recommended parking is at the YMCA.

The Indian Creek Trail is an ongoing vision of a group of local, dedicated Harrison County residents who have been working since the 1990s to develop a recreational trail system in and around Historic Corydon, Indiana. Some sections of the trail are complete while others are planned for the future. Ultimately, a system of interconnecting trails will tie downtown Corydon with the neighboring countr

yside providing both recreational and alternate transportation options for residents and visitors. Complete sections:

Logan's Trail - connecting Mulberry Street with the soccer fields at Rice Island, along Little Indian Creek through the property of Grand Trails RV Park and across from Zimmerman Art Glass. Doolittle/YMCA Section - connecting Walnut Street (Hwy 62) from the "west" bridge to the YMCA soccer fields and parking lot. Pick up the trail and head south. Approximate distance 1.1 miles. This trail shares the open space of soccer fields, a short section of lightly-traveled road, runs along side railroad tracks and then delves into the woods along Big Indian Creek across from the Constitution Elm memorial. Hayswood Section - Proceeding 1.1 miles north along Indian Creek starting from the "lowest" parking lot in Hayswood Nature Reserve. This section of trail was completed in 2011 and utilizes the reconstructed Rothrock Mill Bridge to cross Indian Creek. This section is great for spotting wildlife like Canada geese, deer, blue heron and occasionally a Bald Eagle.

Members of the Indian Creek Trail beat the heat and worked on the Doolittle portion this morning. Cleared mud, trimmed weeds, and raked up the trail.

Would you like to lend a hand?
The next scheduled workday is Saturday, August 2. Typically, we meet at 9 o’clock by the north bridge (at the YMCA end of the Doolittle Trail). The group works for about an hour. Many hands make light work!

Check this out! Located under the North Bridge (North Capitol Ave). The mural is complete and such a beautiful image!

Many thanks to graphic artist Elmer Ramos of Hey Elmer and Andrew Reich (Indian Creek Trail Board Member & grant writer) for bringing an idea to life for others to enjoy! The mural depicts animals seen along the trail. The color choice and style were chosen by members of the community at a public meeting held last year held at the Harrison Co Arts. Community and connection are represented in the mural through the use of the honeycomb pattern.

The art certainly brightens up the east of the Doolittle Trail. Get out, go for a walk, and check it out!

A message from Parks Superintendent Larry Shickles - "Just wanted to let you know that the Doolittle section of the trail will be closed until further notice. It's not safe to travel and will take us some time to get it passable."

We are unsure of the reason but regardless - please remain off the Doolittle section (between west bridge and the YMCA) and stay safe on the trail!!!
