OSU Pistol Club and OSU Rifle Club members,

With the closing of the OSU Corvallis campus target range, we've had a number of challenges to get the clubs practicing again. As a part of the process of moving practices off campus, we have been reviewing the operations of both clubs. We are not just looking at immediate changes, but the long-term success of shooting disciplines at OSU.

The leadership of both clubs have made the decision to merge OSU Pistol Club and OSU Rifle Club into a new combined shooting sports club. This will allow the clubs to more easily share equipment and resources. Combining the leadership roles of both clubs will help alleviate the challenges of club operations. This merger will also open up the potential for additional shooting disciplines to be offered as activities to OSU students through the new club.

We will be announcing more specific details of the club merger soon. If you have any questions or concerns, please email: [email protected]

Today we say farewell to the Anderson & Keeling Memorial Target Range at Oregon State University as we finish moving out. The building has been the home of OSU's shooting teams/clubs for the past 77 years (and a target range for 98 years).

Thank you to everyone who has joined us over the years at the OSU range. While our time at the campus target range has come to a close, we're working to keep the shooting clubs going at an off campus range for next academic year.

Volunteer to help run OSU Pistol Club:
Hello OSU Pistol Club members,

Pistol Club is seeking responsible new club officers and range officers to help us run Pistol Club. The majority of our leadership is graduating at the end of this academic year and we need a minimum of 4 student officers for the club to be active.

OSU Corvallis campus students are eligible to become club/range officers if they can demonstrate an excellent safety mindset, can help with training, and are willing to volunteer their time to further the operation and goals of the club. We will provide all necessary training through RecSports and club specific training. For officer positions, previous fi****ms experience and training is preferred but not necessarily required. This is a very rewarding opportunity to gain leadership and teaching experience working with your peers. If this is something which you would be interested in helping with, please email us with your contact information: [email protected]

We are working on details for how the club will operate off campus spring term (if possible) and next academic year.

Anderson & Keeling Memorial Target Range Closing Update:

OSU Pistol Club, OSU Rifle Club, Benton County 4-H and community members,

Thank you to everyone who submitted letters of support for the Anderson & Keeling Memorial Target Range at Oregon State University (OSU). We ended up receiving 75 supporting letters to include with our letter to the OSU President. As a result of those letters, we met with OSU administration to discuss the target range decision and the needs/concerns of the target range users.

Unfortunately, the final decision is to close the Anderson & Keeling Memorial Target Range. While we are disappointed with the outcome to permanently close the facility, we understand the university's decision regarding priorities of funding/location. We appreciate university administration's willingness listen to our concerns regarding the target range and the groups that use it.

We again thank everyone who has supported the shooting clubs at OSU and 4-H during this decision process. While our time at the campus target range has come to an end, OSU Pistol Club and OSU Rifle Club will continue. We are working to determine details for transitioning practice off campus to Albany Rifle and Pistol Club in Shedd, OR. RecSports and the university are assisting us in this transition which will result in significant changes in how the clubs and competitive teams meet/practice. We will also be working to document and preserve the 97 year history of the indoor target range before vacate the facility.

We will continue to work with the university to explore options for long term operation of the shooting clubs at OSU.
