Doyle Irish Stick - Arach "Dragon" Faction

Doyle Irish Stick - Arach "Dragon" Faction Doyle Irish Stick Fighting (Rhince an Bata na Uisce Bheatha) The Northeast Indiana branch shall be known as the Arach "Dragon" Faction.

This page is dedicated to the advancement of Doyle Irish Stick Fighting (nicknamed Rince an Bata Uisce Bheatha, or Dance of the Whiskey Stick). Doyle Irish Stick Fighting is a devastatingly effective two-handed combative system developed well over 200 years ago by the Doyle family in Ireland. This system was brought to Canada in the early 1800s via a Doyle who settled in the rough and tumble landscape of the Atlantic's Newfoundland coast. Our faction, Arach, is named after the great Dublin Dragon Arach of Glennasmole Valley in Ireland. Arach can also be translated from the old Irish (Gaelic) term for Dragon. Celtic dragons in general were respected and known for being guardians and protectors of wisdom, the people, and the land. As Doyle Irish Stick Fighters of the Arach Faction, we will strive to be respected members of our community and be known to reflect the Dragons of old as wise guardians and protectors. Leading the Arach Faction is Travis McDaniel - Level 4 Coach who's belongs to the Whiskey Stick Faction of Doyle Irish Stick led by John Borter of Coxsackie, New York. Travis continues to train under John Borter and the Chieftan of the system Bernard Leddy of Manorhamilton, County Leitrim, Ireland.

The Spirit of Resistance Doesn't Bend. ☘️🐉
On this Independence Day, we look back at the roots of freedom—and the common thread that binds the history of Bataireacht to the birth of a nation.

When the Irish left their homeland for the shores of America, they didn’t just bring their families; they brought an unyielding spirit of resistance. In Ireland, when weapons were stripped away, our ancestors turned the humble walking stick into a devastating martial art. Bataireacht wasn’t just self-defense; it was how a faction protected its people and defied oppression.

When the American Revolution called, thousands of Irish immigrants and Scots-Irish frontiersmen stepped up into the Continental Army. They knew what it meant to fight an Empire. The same grit, adaptability, and close-quarter ferocity found in the old faction fights fueled the battlefields of the War of Independence.

Whether it’s a shillelagh in the hand or a musket on the line, the drive to stand tall and protect your ground remains the same.

To all the members of the Dragon Faction celebrating today: remember the bloodline of fighters who came before us. Stay sharp, stay driven, and guard your center.
Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸🇮🇪

🐉 Happy Father's Day to all the amazing Dads out there!

Today we celebrate the strength, dedication, and knowledge passed down through generations. Whether you're teaching your kids how to hold a shillelagh, guiding them through life's challenges, or simply leading by example, your impact is undeniable.

Even the smallest student can learn big things from a steady hand and a strong mentor. Keep embodying the spirit of the Dragon and inspiring those around you.

Enjoy your day, Dads! Sláinte! 🇮🇪✨
