🐴❄️Now that breeding season is wrapping up, we’re shifting our focus to collecting for frozen semen! ❄️🐴

This is an ideal time to get stallions scheduled, their breeding commitments are slowing down, cooler weather makes travel and handling more comfortable, and there is more flexibility to establish a consistent collection schedule.

Freezing semen allows stallion owners to:
🧊 Preserve valuable genetics for the future
🧊 Build an inventory of doses before the next breeding season
🧊 Continue offering breedings around show, training and travel schedules
🧊 Protect breeding opportunities in the event of an unexpected injury, illness or loss
🧊 Make semen available for long-distance or future breedings

When properly stored in liquid nitrogen, frozen semen can remain viable for many years. Planning ahead now means having doses ready when mare owners need them next season.

Today we had to make the difficult decision to let our sweet recip, Violet, go.

Violet came to us already blind in one eye from uveitis, and unfortunately experienced sudden blindness in her remaining good eye Friday evening. While we aren’t 100% certain of the cause, we believe it was likely related to her history of uveitis. Knowing she was no longer able to see, we felt letting her go peacefully was the kindest decision we could make.

Violet was such a sweet, quirky soul who loved her treats and would happily lick your hands nonstop. She may not have been carrying a foal this year, but she was still a special part of our herd.

We will miss her dearly, and her pasture buddy Tink already misses her presence. 🤍
