Goshin Jutsu Kyo Jujo Association

Goshin Jutsu Kyo Jujo Association We are a group of instructors that collectively teach Goshin Jutsu Karate as originally developed by Gerard Durant.

We are a collection of instructors working together to teach a common style. There are differences in opinion in how that style should be taught or how certain forms are interpreted... but accepting those differences has allowed for greater enlightenment and growth. Originally, the GJKJA was developed with the cooperation of all the black belts of the Goshin Jutsu Kyo Jujo to help foster growth an

d control of the style. Over time, political conflicts caused a splintering of the association until only a few black belts remained. These remaining members redesigned the GJKJA so that, instead of controlling the style with political promotions and manipulation, the association would be used as a tool to foster style growth and develop new ways of improving the art and the means by which it is taught. Today, the GJKJA offers members many activities and events to step outside of the bounds of typical martial arts schools and the instructors work together to maintain similar instruction in each school, with out restricting the individual though of each instructor.

The time is coming for the GJKJA Annual Tournament. For those that have never competed, this is an inter-school competition to give students a chance to see what competition is like without the hefty prices charged by the "official" tournaments. The idea is to give students the experience and then, if they are ready, step out into competition on their own.

The competitions are setup as fair and equal as we possibly can. This means we try and setup divisions based on the individuals rank, age and general physic. This is so everyone has a fair chance and can earn an award.

There is also a small competition between the schools to see who can have the best showing. This is more just for fun between the instructors, but as students, you really should support your instructors and try your best. Even just competing could be enough to put your school on top.

The competitions will consist of 4 categories: Self Defense (Wazas), Weapons Kata, Kata, and Sparring (Kumite). Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places.

In the past, Master Rex Aikens has been supplementing most of the expenses for prizes and awards. Because this is no longer feasible, we have had to raise the entry fee to $10 a student. This includes participation in all events, not per event.

If you have questions, you can contact your instructor directly or contact Master Dale Aikens. You can also leave a message here. Good luck competitors.

I have gone over a new idea for War Games with Master Dale Aikens and so far this is what I have come up with:

Non competitor Warrior Elites will head houses. The job of a head of a house is to keep track of the members of the house. All questions and issues should be settled if possible by the heads of the houses first. If that fails then and only then can the issue be taken to the Dragon Warriors. At the end of war games, points will be counted up for each house. The leaders of the houses will be given credit for their war games fees.

The houses are given points for the following things:
Winning and placing in specific events
Members winning and placing in specific events
Number of gold coins members possess at the end War Games
Heads placement in the leader’s competition.

The houses are penalized points for the following things:
Members misbehaving in a manner unbecoming of the games.
Members cheating
Members who have been found guilty of crimes by the tribunal
Members repeatedly being reported for hard contact (Includes the heads)

Prizes for the Heads of Households
4 or more houses 3 houses
1st place is 15.00 off 1st place is 10.00 off 2nd place is 10.00 off 2nd place is 5.00 off
3rd place is 5.00 off

Let me know what you think of this and what you suggest to improve it.

Slowly in the process of setting up this page so that it can serve as the public GJKJA Facebook Presence. It is a public page for all of Facebook, so will be a great reference spot for students to openly discuss.
