Nueces County ESD 2 is located in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas. We provide fire and rescue services to:

The City of Corpus Christi
Out of City Limits
Padre Island National Seashore
Unprotected areas of Kleberg and Nueces Counties

The department protects a resident population of over 36,000 and covers urban, suburban, and rural areas encompassing 80 square miles. We serve a d

iversified district composed of an extensive variety of family dwellings, homes on canals, industrial facilities, business, and commercial retail centers. We also cover a major highway system that crosses through the district, which includes over 150 miles of waterfront.

ESD2 and CCFD responded to a duplex fire at 900 McDonald. First arriving crews were met with light, moderate smoke and fire and were able to bring the fire under control in a few minutes. One resident did experience some smoke inhalation and was evaluated by EMS. Due to swift action and strong skill sets, the fire was contained to a single bedroom.

🔥 BURN BAN IN EFFECT – NUECES COUNTY 🔥

Nueces County has issued a Burn Ban due to current drought conditions and increased fire danger.

🚫 Outdoor burning is prohibited in the unincorporated areas of Nueces County, including beach bonfires outside city limits.

The Burn Ban went into effect August 19, 2026, and will remain in effect for 60 days unless lifted earlier by Nueces County.

✅ Backyard barbecues and other non-commercial cooking are still permitted.

⚠️ A violation of the Burn Ban is a Class C misdemeanor and may result in a fine of up to $500.

Please help us protect our community and our first responders. Avoid outdoor burning and use extra caution with anything that could create a spark or start a fire.
