Good morning everyone! We’re getting to know our local drivers so this morning we’re back In the Hot Seat, and today we’re with Javier Gutierrez driver of the #33 Fireball. We asked him a few questions and this is what he had to say….

-When did you start racing and how did you start?

I started in 2024. I used to always go to the races, and I always wanted to race. A coworker of mine had a pure stock for sale, so I took a chance and bought it.

-Who has helped you along the way?

Austin Beck helped me when I first got started and I first bought the car and has continued to help me along the way. Tim Gilpin and Greg Carlucci have helped me with engine tuning and car set up. Raul Olvera is my teammate at OG Motorsports and has helped me a lot as well. And of course, all of my sponsors have helped me get to where I am today.

- What class do you run now, and why? 

Since the pure stock class went away, I converted my car over to the fireball class. I like the fireball class because the cars are faster and it’s more competitive. 

- What class would you run if given the opportunity?

I think I would run a factory stock.

- Where do you see yourself and your racing career in the next five years?

I just do this for fun, so as long as I’m still having fun, in five years I’ll still be racing.

- What do you consider your biggest win or accomplishment?

Anytime the car will drive itself up on the trailer after a race is definitely an accomplishment in itself. I haven’t won yet, but I can say I’m getting close.

- If you could say one thing to the up-and-coming drivers what would it be?

“Patience is key, you’re not gonna learn everything at once. And most importantly, seat time, seat time, seat time.”

From Purestocks to Fireballs in just a couple years, from never raced before to racing with the big boys… will we see Javier in a Factory Stock soon? Will we see him in victory Lane for the Fireballs? I guess you’ll just have to cheer him on and find out! Good luck to you this Saturday, and thank you for taking the time to sit In the Hot Seat!

I’m just going to leave this right here and let you imagine what it smells like…. And if you guessed AMAZING!!!! You’d be right!!!! Let’s get to know some of our local drivers in a little segment I like to call “In the Hot Seat.” This morning we asked Kiehl VanBlarcum in the 2K Factory Stock a few questions about where it all started and where he sees it going….

-When did you start racing?

-How did you start racing?

Been around it since I was kid, watched a go kart race at L87 and it took off from there.

Factory stocks, great competition and the ability to travel to and race at different tracks.

-What class would you run if given the opportunity?

Imca stock car

- Where do you see yourself and your racing career in 5 years?

Probably still running factory stocks.

-What’s your biggest/ most memorable win?

Winning my first factory stock race at Edna this year after the struggles we had all of 2025

-If you could tell the up and coming drivers one thing, what would it be?

“Don’t give up. There will be good seasons and there will be bad seasons. When everyone tells you to give up, don’t, push harder , work harder, and make it happen. It will be worth it in the end.”

We’re looking forward to the last 3 points races of the season!!! Just a reminder 9/19, 10/10, and 10/24 will all be for points, and 11/14 we crown our champions!!!

Attention Drivers….. We’re looking to add some color to our kids area, and the idea was suggested to line the fence in drivers doors…. If we have any drivers looking to donate old doors, they’ll be screwed to the fence and shown off for the world to see!!!
