Old Age and Treachery vs. Youth and Exuberance – Alumni Match Week is Here!

We’re gearing up for our annual Alumni Match, where experience meets energy in an epic showdown of old age and treachery vs. youth and exuberance. This event honors the original team of bold, and often cheeky, Navy SEALs and Sailors who took to the pitch in the 60s and 70s—and commemorates the life of a great warrior, Mike Emerson, of BUD/S Class 40.

We’re also proud to celebrate 10 years of Coronado High School Rugby—a decade of grit, growth, and glory.

Now in its second year, this match is more than just a game. It’s a chance to strengthen our lifelong learning community, foster mentorship across generations, and support alumni as they grow into the leaders we’ve prepared them to be.

The match promises fun, challenge, and most of all—connection. It’s a place for stories, wisdom, friendly competition, and a whole lot of heart. Whether you’re playing, coaching, or cheering, come be part of the action and legacy. The Old Frogs are ready to take back the trophy—see you on the pitch!

Old Frogs vs CHS Alumni match is July 20th 11am on Cays field. Come out and honor a fallen warrior BUDS Class 40 Michael Emerson and watch the Old Frogs take back the trophy. Our next practice is Sunday July 6th 10am at Tidelands park. Honoring Mike and Jersey issue will be at the Tavern at 4pm on Saturday the 19th right after our final practice. Old age and treachery is going to beat youth and exuberance this year come out cheer on our coaches and veterans as they take on the CHS alumni.

CRC alum Joe Williamson, led the UCSC Slugs to win the Cup beating a gritty San Jose State 27-26. He's the starting 10 and have another match vs Standford playing in Palo Alto this Friday. Great job Joe!
