The camp will be offered weekly, Monday thru Friday from 9 am to 1 pm and will be located at the “Shipwreck” just south of the public parking lot at the Coronado Shores. This lot is located just off the beach at Avenida de las Arenas (across HWY 75 from Community Center). Blue Wave is geared towards kids aged 6-18 with special attention given to novice surfers. The first camp will start Monday Jun
e 17th. The cost of the camp is $200.00 and will include surfing instruction for all levels, many ocean activities such as bodysurfing, snorkling, offshore paddling. Safety will be stressed as I have worked as a local ocean lifeguard off and on since 1983. During the week the students will also learn about Marine Biology, Oceanography, and beach safety. Physical fitness and being active will be encouraged by the staff and will be modelled at all times during the camp. Most participants will bring their own surfboard and wetsuit but arrangements can be made with instructor prior to the week or on Monday of the camp to access needed gear. Hats and sunscreen are mandatory and kids will want to bring a towel, water and snacks also. Staff will be using water photography to document the action and footage will be sent to parents when possible. Contact information is provided so please contact me with any questions you might have. Since this program is offered by the city recreation department sign up will go through them. They can be reached by phone at 619-522-7342. The barcodes needed are 9140 for 17 June camp to 9150 for the last camp starting 26 August. Each camp has a separate barcode. Stan Searfus 5103267404
