Coronado Lawn Bowling Club

Coronado Lawn Bowling Club Lawn Bowling is fun The Coronado Lawn Bowling Club was started in 1935 at 7th and D Ave featuring a typical grass green.

That green was lost when the Library was expanded but the City then constructed a world class artificial tournament quality green which was dedicated in March 2010 at the same location on the corner of 7th Street and D Avenue next to the library and across from the high school. The green is open to the public and all are welcome to come and have a free lesson in lawn bowling or bowling on the green.

For the Love of Bowls!! After 15 Years of Coronado Mixed Triples, we transformed the tournament into a 2-day First Annual Coronado Crown City Cup, the brainchild of CLBC's Russ Kindorf. Kicked off by the Mayor of Coronado, John Duncan, a field of truly sensational bowlers battled it out on Coronado's fantastic new Green in spectacular bowling weather!! First place was earned in a breathtaking last-end play by Dean Warmington to the cheers of his team, John Slater & Giulia Gallo. 2nd was then taken by Russ Kindorf & his team of Terry Mar & Dee McSparren. 3rd Place was taken by Loren Dion, Ian Ho and Eva Lee beating out the 4th Place Team of Michael Siddall, Bill Brault and Manya Urane. And now our Goal...Make it Even Better!!!!

So much gratitude to everyone who helped make the last two years of celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the Coronado Lawn Bowling Club such an extraordinary success!

People often say, “It takes a village,” and this journey truly proved it. From the very first conversations and ideas, to the creation of the exhibit at the Coronado Historical Association Museum, to producing a lasting historical documentary, and finally celebrating together at a Premiere event with more than 100 attendees — every step was made possible by dedicated people who cared deeply about preserving and sharing the legacy of lawn bowling in Coronado.

What began as a vision became something far greater: a tribute to community, friendship, history, and generations of achievement. Together, we have created something that will live on for years to come — a permanent place in Coronado’s story.

THANK YOU, CLBC, and thank you to every volunteer, supporter, participant, and friend who contributed their time, talent, and heart to this remarkable effort.

And now… onward to the Centennial! 🎉
Wish we had more pictures of the Premiere but there are always just a few things along the way where we could have done just a little better!!

Thank you City of Coronado and Coronado Historical Association!!

Coronado Lawn Bowling Club is proud once again as Javier Gomez shines in the PBA.
Professional Bowls Association Administrator Scottie Marzonie congratulates Coronado’s own Javier Gomez, who earned a coveted spot in the UK Open Men’s Singles tournament next March in Cambridge, England after battling through five intense and hard-fought qualifying matches. Before winning the final, Javier faced his own son, Angel Gomez, in a dramatic semifinal showdown with a match decided in a sudden-death three-end playoff. Javier ultimately secured that victory on the final end by less than an inch.
