Does your back not want to straighten out when you stand up out of your seat? Does it get extra tight after you've been training a lot? These movements are definitely worth a shot then.

I normally do at least three circuits of this routine and when done consistently my lumbar spine feels like it did when I was in my early twenties. Got to stay consistent with it though!

This series of movements focuses largely on the quadratus lumborum, so as major and your piriformis. These are all very interrelated muscles that cause back tightness and keep your hips from moving properly. When your hips don't function right, your back and spine start trying to take up the slack and that usually results in pain and injury.

What actually happened here? Was the guy being a horrible human being and trying to drop him straight on his head or was this a tragic misstep by the person trying to hang on to a triangle and hook the leg here? More importantly, does anyone know if this dude's okay?

What's the biggest falsehood you think is prevalent in the Jiu Jitsu community? I think there are plenty of unrealistic scenarios especially in sport Jiu Jitsu itself that can really get people in trouble in real life.

I use the example of the triangle submission when you can just be picked up if you don't have proper posture control and dropped on your head in real life.

Things like self-defense, butt scooting Etc all seem like pretty easy targets here. Drop your example in the comments below!

When people think of jujitsu strength, most people end up thinking about powering through different positions and just moving people around. Strength plays its largest role in moving yourself around others especially when you have bigger opponents. No one has issues moving opponents smaller than them just because of physics, but when your opponents are the same size or larger you have to be able to move yourself around them strategically and that means essentially having to lift and manipulate your body weight as resistance.

Ever go for a sweep and feel like you're in the perfect position but the opponent just doesn't fall over?

Ever hit the perfect technique on a choke but they just don't tap or go out?

If all the stars are aligned and your Technique was correct, you have a physicality issue. You simply don't produce enough force in those positions even with good leverage to create the impact needed for the move to be successful.

The Venn diagram of your physical ability and your technical prowess just doesn't really overlap

You've got to focus on your physical tools if you really want your jiu jitsu to be good. Go find a physically weak world champion in grappling. Go ahead, I'll wait

A common misconception in sports training: Strength and conditioning alone won’t automatically make you better at your sport. 🏆

But here’s the truth: getting stronger, faster, and more explosive does give you the ability to generate more force, move efficiently, and handle the demands of your game. It’s not about replacing skill work; it’s about building the engine that powers it. 💪

Train smart. Build strength. Perform better.

Can Jonah Hill beat you up?

Jonah Hill talks about how training Jiu-Jitsu changes your understanding of your ability to physically handle another person, and what it feels like knowing you could beat someone up.

You should still do it though!

The funny thing is James Maritato could handle himself just fine here. Legit guy trained under Billy Robinson. 💪
