🥎 YOUR COACHING METHODS SHOULDN’T BE STUCK IN THE SAME DECADE AS YOUR FIRST CELL PHONE!

You wouldn’t still be using the same iPhone you got when you were 15, would you?

WHY NOT?

Because technology has changed. It has advanced. We’ve learned how to make things faster, better, and more efficient.

SO HAS SOFTBALL.

The game has evolved. Our understanding of biomechanics, body movement, strength development, and how athletes learn has evolved.

So why are we STILL teaching techniques simply because “that’s how we were taught”?

Just because something was taught 20 years ago doesn’t mean it’s still the most effective way to do it today.

If you’re coaching, you have a responsibility to KEEP LEARNING.

Attend clinics. Study biomechanics. Ask questions. Learn from other coaches. Be willing to admit that something you once taught might not be the best approach anymore.

And let me tell you this from someone who attends at least one coaching clinic every year AND participates in monthly Zoom calls for continuing education.

I have DRASTICALLY changed the way I teach over the last three years.

Not because I was a bad coach three years ago, but because I KNOW MORE NOW THAN I DID THEN!

I’ve learned new techniques, gained a better understanding of biomechanics, and changed the way I approach developing athletes.

And guess what? THAT’S A GOOD THING!

It’s okay to change the way you coach as you learn. It’s okay to admit there’s a better way. It’s okay to look back at something you used to teach and realize you wouldn’t teach it that way today.

That’s not a weakness. THAT’S GROWTH.

Experience doesn’t automatically equal education, and years of coaching mean very little if you’ve stopped being willing to learn.

This isn’t about disrespecting the coaches who came before us. It’s about doing BETTER for the athletes coming after us.

The game keeps growing. As coaches, we should be growing with it.

We expect our athletes to show up, work hard, take instruction, and constantly improve.

Shouldn’t they expect the SAME from us?

NOT EVERY COACH IS THE RIGHT COACH FOR EVERY ATHLETE. AND THAT’S OKAY! 🥎

I work with a LOT of different personalities. The quiet ones, the loud ones, the sensitive ones, the stubborn ones, the ones who need encouragement, and the ones who need a little tough love.

And honestly? I mesh with the majority of them!

But there are a few I struggle with.

The constant excuses. The lack of accountability. The ones who look you straight in the face while you’re giving instruction and then completely ignore everything you just said.

Does that make them bad kids? Absolutely not.

Maybe I’m just not THEIR coach.

I truly believe finding a coach your daughter connects with is important. Personalities matter, communication matters, and trust matters!

BUT HERE’S THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT CONVERSATION…

If your daughter has been through 5, 6, or 7 different coaches and NONE of them have been the right fit, at some point we have to ask ourselves if the problem is really the coaching.

Because there’s a BIG difference between not connecting with a coach and simply not being coachable.

Being coachable is a LIFE SKILL, not just a softball skill.

One day these girls will have careers, bosses, mentors, and people teaching them things they haven’t learned yet. They won’t always get to choose who gives them instruction, and they certainly won’t always like how it’s delivered.

Learning to listen, accept constructive criticism, take accountability, and respect someone else’s experience is something that will follow them LONG after softball is over.

And parents, sometimes we have to stop making excuses for our kids and start teaching them how to take instruction.

That doesn’t mean they can’t ask questions, have opinions, or stand up for themselves. It means understanding that being corrected isn’t the same as being criticized.

Find a coach who brings out the best in your daughter. But also raise a daughter who is willing to be coached.

Because BOTH matter. 🖤🥎

🥎 LET ME REINTRODUCE MYSELF! 🖤

I’ve noticed quite a few new faces around here lately, so I figured it was time for a little introduction!

Hey y’all! 👋 I’m Jaisa, the owner and coach behind Fierce Fastpitch Academy in Corinth, Mississippi!

I’m a wife, a mama to three wild boys, and a softball coach who has turned her love for this game into a career I absolutely love!

🥎 I’ve been coaching for over 10 years, including time coaching at the collegiate level. I’m a Foster Fastpitch Certified Instructor, and I specialize in teaching pitching mechanics, movement patterns, and helping athletes understand the why behind what we do.

But Fierce Fastpitch is about so much more than just throwing strikes or hitting a softball.

I want to develop strong, confident young women who believe in themselves both on and off the field.

I believe in teaching the athlete in front of me, not forcing every girl into the same mold. Every athlete learns differently, develops differently, and deserves a coach who recognizes that.

I’m big on hard work, accountability, proper mechanics, and building confidence. I’ll push your athlete, I’ll challenge her, and I’ll celebrate her wins right alongside her!

Outside of the facility, you’ll usually find me spending time with my husband and our boys, working out, or finding something outdoors to get into!

I’m so thankful for every family who has trusted me with their athlete and for everyone who continues to support this little dream of mine that keeps growing.

NO EXPERIENCE? NO PROBLEM! 💙

Every great pitcher has to start somewhere, and we want to help your little athlete fall in love with pitching!

Join us at Fierce Fastpitch Academy for a fun, hands-on morning dedicated to introducing young athletes to the fundamentals of fastpitch pitching!

We’ll focus on:
🥎 Learning proper pitching mechanics
💪 Building a strong foundation
🔥 Developing body control and coordination
💙 Building confidence in the circle
⭐ Learning drills they can practice at home

This camp is designed specifically for BEGINNERS! No previous pitching experience or lessons required!

🥎WE NEED MORE FEMALE COACHES. PERIOD.🥎

Why have we normalized men being the majority of coaches in a WOMAN’S sport?

Women play this game. Women have lived it. Women know what it feels like to be the girl standing in the circle, fighting through the mental battles, the pressure, the failures, and the expectations that come with being a pitcher.

So why aren’t we pushing harder to get more women into coaching?

And especially in pitching.

I’m not saying men can’t coach fastpitch. There are men who have played men’s fastpitch at a high level, and there are a select few who have dedicated their lives to understanding the biomechanics of this sport. I respect that.

But we cannot ignore the value of women who have actually played this game, lived these experiences, and understand what it means to grow up as a female athlete.

So many of us were coached by men who were taught to coach boys. Yell louder. Be tougher. Scream when they mess up. Belittle them into being better. Im not saying all males coaches are bad! I myself have had some great male coaches, and currently know several great male coaches.

But teenage girls are still walking away from sports at alarming rates. And too often, it’s not because they stopped loving the game. It’s because they stopped loving what the game was doing to them.

They lost their confidence. They stopped believing in themselves. They got tired of being torn down by the very people who were supposed to build them up.

WE HAVE TO DO BETTER.

We need more women who have played this game stepping into coaching roles. We need women who understand that accountability and confidence can coexist. That you can hold an athlete to a high standard without breaking her down. That you can coach hard, demand effort, correct mistakes, and still make a girl feel supported.

I want to see more former players become the coaches they needed when they were younger.

We know what it takes to play this game. Now let’s step up, get educated, keep learning, and help shape the next generation.

Our girls deserve coaches who challenge them, develop them, and make them want to keep showing up.

We don’t need to make the game easier for girls. We need to get better at coaching them.

And ladies, if you’ve played this game and have the knowledge, the passion, and the willingness to keep learning, don’t count yourself out. Get involved. Get educated. Become the coach our next generation deserves.
