The Daily Dose – Reggae Saturday

Reggae is my favorite genre of music. Whenever I need to put my mind in a good place, I turn on some reggae. There's just something about those smooth rhythms, positive messages, and uplifting vibes that helps me relax and refocus.

This weekend, I'm working hard to finish the June edition of the newspaper. The deadline is quickly approaching, and I have to submit the final file to the printer by Monday at 5:00 p.m. It's a busy season, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue bringing positive news and inspiration to our readers.

So bear with me, Daily Dose readers. I'll be back at full blast very soon. Until then, I'll keep the reggae music playing as I push toward the finish line.

The Daily Dose: The Influencer

The Influencer
For over 20 years, I’ve had the honor of serving as a Fatherhood Initiative Coordinator for area Head Starts.

Working with men and boys is not just what I do — it’s my passion.

Through this work, I strive to encourage fathers to become better leaders, providers, protectors, and examples for their children.

In the Bible, Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 4:19, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Jesus wasn’t talking about fishing with nets and boats. He was talking about influencing people’s lives in a positive way and leading them toward purpose, love, and God. In short, the disciples became influencers for the Kingdom.

Matter of fact, it looks like the Bible had the first social influencers — they just didn’t have social media. The disciples traveled from town to town spreading messages of hope, faith, love, and salvation.
Their influence changed lives, communities, and generations.

Today, the popular phrase is “social media influencer.”

Many people measure influence by likes, followers, views, and popularity. But I often find myself asking this question:

Would you rather be a fisher of men by influencing men to become better fathers?

Would you rather be a social media influencer gaining attention for yourself?

Or would you rather be an influencer who encourages people to follow Jesus?

As for me, I would rather be an influencer for men than simply be a social media influencer. I would rather use my voice to encourage fathers, strengthen families, inspire young boys, and point people toward Christ than chase popularity and followers online.

True influence is not about how many followers you have. It’s about how many lives you help change for the better.
A real influencer inspires growth, healing, love, responsibility, and faith.

At the end of the day, the greatest influence we can have is leading others closer to God while helping them become the best version of themselves.

The Daily Dose: Heal the Land

Have you ever had a cut that you wished would heal quickly? You placed an antibiotic ointment on it to help speed up the healing process and bring relief to the pain.

Today, our land has some deep cuts that need healing. There are wounds caused by hate, division, violence, sickness, and brokenness. The only ointment powerful enough to heal the deep wounds of the land is the blood of Jesus Christ.

When the blood of Jesus is applied, it brings relief, restoration, peace, and healing. No wound is too deep, no scar is too painful, and no situation is too far gone for the healing power of God.

The blood of Jesus never fails.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” — 2 Chronicles 7:14

The Daily Dose: “Life Is Sweet… and Sometimes Sticky”

Life has a funny way of teaching us lessons — sometimes with wisdom, sometimes with chocolate.

From 100 Grand reminding us that “rich” is relative, to Snickers proving we’re not ourselves when we’re hungry, every candy bar has a little truth tucked inside.

Some days you’re Kit Kat begging for a break you never get.

Other days you’re Butterfinger dropping everything important and pretending it’s fine.

Maybe you’re the Milky Way floating through space with snacks, or PayDay watching your check disappear faster than your patience.

But here’s the sweet truth:

Even when life gets chunky, crackly, sticky, or nutty, you’re still built to handle it.

You’re stronger than the toffee in a Heath Bar and more resilient than the caramel in a Baby Ruth.

So unwrap the day with confidence.

Laugh at the mess and taste the joy.

And remember — even when life feels like a melted 3 Musketeers, you’ve still got what it takes to make it sweet.
