The original Active Endeavors in Iowa started in 1986 on Linn Street in downtown Iowa City by Mark & Eadie Weaver. Our store carries a wide range of outdoors apparel, from top brands like Patagonia, Arc'teryx, and Vuori, to smaller labels as well. We’re committed to offering unique brands that consistently provide quality outdoor wear and products that are dedicated to sustainability, innovation, and ultimate performance. Many of our brands are socially responsible and aim to better the environment through recycling materials and participating in the 1% For The Planet program. We have a great line of fitness wear, travel gear, and all range of outdoors clothing and footwear. Whether you have a simple question or need to be outfitted for an adventure trip, we can help. Our experienced staff will make sure you get the right fit and the proper apparel for your specific activity. We will go out of our way to find that perfect jacket, custom fit your shoes and order your favorite color and we pledge to continue that personal customer service. And though he doesn't look that old, Brian "The Shoe Guy" is the most experienced and oldest shoe fitter in Iowa! Hope to see you soon in our new location at The Iowa River Landing in Coralville.

New to hiking? Here are 5 common mistakes to avoid on the trail.👇🏼
1. Not having the right shoes
Make sure the shoes you have are suitable for the terrain you’re hiking on, have proper support and are waterproof if you’re hiking in a wetter climate.
2. Layering incorrectly
Your layers should be breathable and moisture wicking, don’t overdo it with your base layer and be sure to bring a rain jacket/windbreaker if necessary.
3. Wearing the wrong pack
If you’re going on a longer hike, it’s important that your pack is supportive, well padded and fit to your body.
4. Not bringing snacks
When you’re exerting yourself for a long period of time it’s important to have the proper fuel to maintain energy levels (just be sure to not overpack on snacks and weigh down your pack!)
5. Relying on digital navigation
Oftentimes on trails you’ll lose service or digital maps won’t be as accurate as printed trail maps.
