The start of the FSU Ice Hockey Club was in 1997. Since then it has been an organization that has been run by the players on the team. Two of the “creators” were Carlos Landrian, who was also the first coach, and Eric Campailla. The team began play at the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center, near campus. They continued t
o play there until the 2000-01 season, when the team was forced to hold their home games at Jacksonville Ice due to the loss of ice at the civic center. The following season the team again relocated, this time to the RDV Sportsplex in Orlando, where they played until 2008 when Jacksonville Ice became the home of Noles Hockey once again. Since 2012, the club has been calling Columbus Ice Rink in Columbus, GA home. To be a member of this prestigious program, one must maintain a 2.0 grade average while being a full time student at FSU. Since the team is a club sport, the university provides only minimal amount of money compared to a large budget needed to operate a hockey team.
