We've been weather challenged on Sunday and Monday!
GS was planned for Sunday but high winds and low visibility closed Palmer. Plan B turned out to be awesome as skiers spent 3.5 hours on gateless work with fantastic results. Primary focus was on finding new base of support
And being athletic. Great effort by all athletes.

Timberline was closed Monday so we had off snow training including slalom and giant slalom mental skills prep. In the afternoon we embraced Mother Nature and went for a nice run in the rain.

Saturday training (day 5) and it was time for ..... gates and GS. Twenty gates were set at 25 meters with rhythm top to bottom. It wasn't about being fast but holding together good ski technique. When technique came apart, Racers were asked to ski out or do a speed check before continuing.

This was an awesome session because everybody maintained great concentration and accomplished technical and tactical goals in the course.

Outstanding snow conditions this morning. Everybody switched to GS skis and we worked off the mile chair making BLT's. Focus was on fundamentals we worked on previous three days. Athletes managed GS skis beautifully, knifing sweet arcs.

Next up we ran GS brushs on Celebrity. Later on the 1000 feet vertical above Celebrity we continued to work on linked turns. This was a highly productive day of training on snow.

Video reviews of training runs and pool time were highlights of evening activity.

Day off on Friday to rest athlete's legs and recharge batteries.

Today we had sunny skies above the clouds and tons of enthusiasm from the athletes. As we continue to work on building from the ground up, today was about how we properly use the hips. The hips used properly allow the athlete to be very strong and powerful. Conversely, the improper use of hips leaves the athlete weak and vunerable. The athletes tried hard to connect the conscious mind with the position of the hips initially in traverses and then in medium radius turns. We spent 2.5 hours with the sole focus on the position of the inside hip throught the turn plus good hand discipline.

After break the balance of our time was spent challenging the athletes to put their best slalom turns on the trail (of course in a gateless environment). On relatively steep hard snow, the challenge was to link as many high quality slalom turns together. When the athlete felt technique in this environment fall apart, a speed check was then appropriate, then resume.

Additional activities today included pool/hot tub, rest, trip to Govy, yoga, video review and nightly team meeting.

We decided to ski. The focus was on turn transitions. Racers focused and confirmed they had a good base of support (inside ski) before athletically moving forward with hips and on to the new inside ski. Racers got lots of reps on moderate terrain in directed free ski environment.

Balance of day spent at the resort's activities center, video review, and mental skills discussion at tonight's meeting.
