Pale Whale Canoe Fleet Canoe, kayak, tube, and raft rentals on the Clarion River in Cook Forest State Park. Open daily May - October as conditions permit. Closed for the 2022 season.

The Pale Whale Canoe Livery is open from April thru October, weather and river conditions dependent. We are located 1/4 mile up River Road off Route 36 in Cooksburg. Please check our daily post for what trips we are offering each day, any restrictions, and the cut off times before you travel!

Current Depth: 3.25’
Flow: 864 cfs
Morning Water Temp: 68
Minimum Age: 2 years old

We open at 9 am and will run these trips all day UNTIL the following times:

12 pm: 10-mile Canoe or Kayak
2 pm: 4-mile 6-person River Raft or Tube
3 pm: 2.5-mile Inner Tube
4 pm: 4-mile Canoe or Kayak

All equipment is first come first serve. We do not make reservations. All equipment must be returned to the dock by 6 pm.

If you are coming with a group, please sign up together so you are in the same van. If you sign up at different times, we cannot guarantee that you will go upriver at the same time.

We do not allow trailers on weekends and holidays. Be sure to check out our website for more transport information.

We expect some weather this morning and then again later today but we think there will be a good window to get on the river. Storms through the night are causing the river to rise, so we will monitor that information. Here are the daily stats:

Pictured here is a Scarlet Tanager. They typically migrate back to our area in May from South America. They breed in mature deciduous forests and mixed deciduous-coniferous forests such as Cook Forest. We often see them along River Road in the Picnic Area.
