Whatβs up, Champions! β‘οΈ
Please join me in giving a BIG Blue Lightning Track Club shoutout to one of the most dynamic dual-sport student-athletes to come through our program β Derrick βDJβ Miller, DJ Miller!
DJ has put together an absolutely outstanding high school season, and once again, heβs headed to the GHSA Georgia State Track and Field Championships in both the 100 meters and 200 meters for Newton High School!

And let me tell you something, Championsβ¦ those are SMOKING times! DJ is entering rare air in high school sprinting and knocking on the door of elite β10.4β and β20-pointβ territory. In track & field, we call that PURE SMOKE. π¨β‘οΈ
Last season, DJ was a State Finalist in the 200 meters and also earned a Gold Medal as a Georgia State Champion on the 4x200 relay team.
On top of that, heβs a two-time New Balance Nationals Indoor qualifier β proof that his talent performs on the biggest stages.

What makes DJ special isnβt just the stats.
Anyone who knows DJ knows heβs humble, hardworking, coachable, and has a quick sense of humor that keeps everybody smiling. Despite all the success, he continues to carry himself with character and class.
Heβs the type of athlete who elevates EVERYBODY around him.
Iron sharpens iron. π―
Every practice⦠every meet⦠every rep⦠DJ stepped up the game of the athletes beside him. He brought fire, energy, competitiveness, and smoke to every workout session.
Iβm definitely going to miss his sense of humor, his presence at practice, and the competitive edge he brought to the team every single day. Thatβs what true leadership looks like.

And Champions, success like this never happens in isolation.
A huge part of DJβs journey and success is a direct reflection of his mother, Tianna Miller, and her grind, sacrifice, and unwavering support.
No matter the distance, no matter the circumstance β whether the meet was right up the street or a thousand miles away to the New Balance Nationals Indoor in Boston β she was there.
I still remember Tianna driving six hours to Kentucky for a meet, supporting DJ the entire way, and then getting right back on the road after the competition.
Thatβs sacrifice.
Thatβs commitment.
Thatβs love.
She has consistently made sure DJ had every opportunity possible to succeed both on and off the field.
That type of commitment, consistency, and support matters, and we absolutely want to recognize and celebrate her as well.
Behind many great athletes is an even greater support system, and DJ has been blessed with exactly that.

This fall, DJ will continue his academic and athletic journey at Howard University as a dual-sport scholarship athlete in Football and Track & Field.
Howard is getting an exceptional student-athlete with unlimited potential and an even brighter future ahead.
It has been an honor coaching DJ here at Blue Lightning Track Club and watching his growth as an athlete and young man.
We are proud of you, DJ, and we wish you tremendous success at the next level.
A TRUE CHAMPION. β‘οΈ
