Aloha, spooky season! 🌺🎃 Someone’s feeling hay-waiian this Halloween. Who needs a costume when you’ve got a lei-d back attitude and flower power?

Something new is humming at the barn! 🤎 Our horses now have access to a Theraplate, supporting muscle recovery, circulation, and relaxation after a hard day’s work. Our four-legged athletes are loving it. Another reason this place is the best horse home!

If your child has ever pressed their face to the car window to wave at a horse, this one’s for you. 🐴

You don’t need a fearless kid or any riding experience to start. You just need a kid who’s curious and willing to try. Swipe through for the signs we look for!

The best first step is a beginner evaluation lesson. It’s a low-pressure way for your child to meet the horses and for you to see if it’s a good fit. 💛

Save this for later or send it to a parent who’s been wondering! 👇

What was your child’s first “horse moment”? Tell us below!

Congratulations to our very own Kelly Leihy and her wonderful horse, Indy! 🎉

We are so proud to share some big news from our barn family. This year, Kelly and her OTTB, Indy, made it all the way to the USEA American Eventing Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park, and what a year it was! ❤️

It was a full-circle moment for them. In 2016, they competed at the Kentucky Horse Park in the Retired Racehorse Project, and ten years later, they were back competing at AECs.

Their season included:
🥇 Training at Full Gallop
🥇 Modified at Poplar Place
🥇 Modified at Bouckaert
🥈 Modified at Full Gallop

They headed into AECs as an undefeated Adult Amateur and top 9 on the USEA leaderboard, with Indy winning the TIP division at every show along the way. At AECs, they posted their best dressage score of the season, a 32.6, which placed them 10th in the nation and 2nd for TIP. 👏

Indy’s story is one for the books. Kelly bought him as a $2,500 OTTB at 19 with no PPE. He couldn’t hold shoes and couldn’t even canter, and she was told he’d make a “cute lower-level horse.” But Kelly always believed there was more, and Indy proved her right. From walking onto the trailer without hesitation to galloping around the Rolex ring like he belonged (because he did!), he showed the whole country what an Off-Track Thoroughbred can do.

Kelly, thank you for sharing your journey with us, and thank you for letting us be a part of your story!

We’re so lucky to have you both as part of our Montclair Stables family. Congratulations on an unforgettable season, and here’s to many more incredible memories to be made! 🏆

Every chore is guided by our lead trainer, and every bit of hard work goes toward your time in the saddle.
