How Progressive Overload Accelerates your Fitness Progress

Progressive overload is a training principle that involves gradually increasing the intensity of an exercise through an increase in weight, resistance, or volume of your workout overtime. This forces your muscles to adapt and build strength and mass.

Examples Include:
1) Increasing weight or load lifted
2)Increasing number of reps performed
3)Decreasing rest time
4)Increasing the frequency of workouts

One benefit of progressive overload is it helps against plateaus. When you reach a plateau your muscles have become accustomed to the current level of stimulus and stop making progress. By progressively Increasing difficulty each workout you can keep the muscle groups challeneged and continue to pursue results.

If progressive overload is something new to your training it is important to start slowly. Begin by increasing the weight or volume of your workouts by around 5% each week.

It is important to listen to your body even though it's not required to train and see results take rest days as you need them. Progressive overload can be demanding so it's important to give your muscles time to recover.

By gradually increasing difficulty during your workouts you can force your muscles to adapt and grow leading to faster gains💪.

Spot reducing fat, or losing fat in a specific area of the body, is a common goal for many people. However, it's important to note that spot reduction is not possible. You can't target a specific area of the body for fat loss.

However there are strategies that can help you burn fat and build muscle💪


1) Combine cardio exercise with a healthy diet

2) Incorporate strength training exercises to build muscle mass in the areas you're targeting

3) Maintain a healthy lifestyle including a balanced diet and regular exercise to support overall weight loss

Did you know adding just 20 minutes of vigorous exercise to your daily routine can help your overall health. Including better sleep😴, improved cognitive function🤓, improved immune system, injury prevention🤕, weight loss, and muscle gain💪

Try adding short sessions of intense exercise to your routine such as sprints, jumping jacks, or jump rope to get the heart pumping. And add some resistance training or weight training a few times per week.

Just a reminder that slow progress is still progress, and far better than no progress. 💪
