This is a great discussion of how we deal with tendon pain as therapists, as trainers and as athletes. Remember tendons are what connects muscles to bones. Their health and fitness is central to using your muscles to get in great shape. Tendon pain is a major factor in things like chronic knee pain, shoulder pain and foot/ankle/achilles pain. The key points discussed are understanding tendon physiology, how healthy tendons work, and the nature of tendon injuries. Further, the proper progression of loading/type of loading that ensures that the tendon regains function and the pain decreases. Prolonged periods of rest unload the tendon and prevent a return to function, strength and performance. Please reply with any questions you might have.
