Ronnie Lunsford Trophy Cup recap!
We had a rocky start Saturday with foggy conditions causing delays. However we had a action packed weekend and fun for all!
Saturday:
After the weather cleared, the Young racers of LT4 sprint set their sights on 16 laps on the short course of MSR Houston. The grueling race did take 1 of the ovhale 160cc motors on lap 14. No one was hurt and this was the only incident this weekend.
LT4 results
1st John Gulotta
2nd Ryan Starkey
3rd Kendall Leonard
The LT3 Sprint was an action packed dogfight between Teegan Partridge and Topher Simmons with Teegan coming out on top.
LT3 results
1st Teegan Partridge
2nd Topher Simmons
By far the most popular class the LT2 Sprint had 10 entries with Mikey Lou Sanchez in the mix as an exhibition rider on his GP 250 giving everyone a rabbit to chase after. Mikey Lou and JC Camacho both hooked up and ran away from the field in the latter half of the race. Ashkay Raju and Jincheng Han were both close behind in 2nd and 3rd

1st JC Camacho
2nd Akshay Raju
3rd Jincheng Han
The LT4 100 Mile Dash was thin on entries so officials decided to introduce a different kind of dash... A dash for Cash! The top 5 winners from LT2 Sprint would redraw for grids and run a 3 lap race for a $500 purse.
LT2 Dash for Cash results
1st JC Camacho
2nd Akshay Raju
3rd Chris Muck
The LT 300 Mile Endurance was cut short due to concerns about track glare out of the last corner and a concrete wall right next to that corner. However the LT2 Motorcycle Supply Team from Salinas, Kansas set the pace and won their class after 260 miles of racing.
The LT3 class had 3 teams all competing for the podium. Team Bad Kitty on a Yamaha YZ125 2T ridden by Alyssa Foster and Rachel Keller ran a great race despite Alyssa being sick with a stomach bug.
Zero Fox headed by John McKenzie and MR2 Racing headed by Mark Richroath came down to the lap to decide 1st and 2nd. Both teams were on top of their pit stops and consistent lap times with a few riders such as Kellan Funkhouser putting down Personal Best lap times.
LT2
1st Motorcycle Supply
LT3
1st Zero Fox
2nd MR2 Racing
3rd Team Bad Kitty
The winners circle may have been a bit late but the fun and excitement was in the air. With trophys and champagne galore, the riders could not be happier!
Sunday was a perfect day for racing. No fog, slight wind, and not a cloud in the sky.
GTL was the first sprint on the docket with 16 laps of pure entertainment. JC Camacho and Mikey Lou Sanchez had their rematch from Saturday. With lap after lap of overtakes and motoring past each other, it was down to a difference of 6 inches between 1st and 2nd. Zack Foster and Steven Smith were just behind in 3rd and 4th.
GTL Results
1st Mikey Lou Sanchez
2nd JC Camacho
3rd Zack Foster
GTU Sprint went off without a hitch as Kevin Nolde and Vincent Spatafore laying down 12 blazing fast laps around the course.
GTU Results
1st Kevin Nolde
2nd Vincent Spatafore
The GTO Sprint was a showcase of Texas v Louisiana with JC Camacho vs Kevin Nolde both on Yamaha R1s. Kevin Nolde was first out of the gate and lead 6 of the 8 laps with JC right on his tail. With JC Camacho on his home track and biding his time a slight mis step from Kevin Nolde would allow JC the room he needed to pass for the lead. With Round 2 at Kevin Noldes home track at NOLA Motorsports Park, perhaps the tables will be turned against JC Camacho.
GTO Results
1st JC Camacho
2nd Kevin Nolde
The GT 500 Endurance had 4 teams total. 2 in GTO and 2 in GTL. With all 3 tire manufacturers being represented. Bridgestone with BRAWP Racing, Pirelli with Raceworx USA GTO and GTL, and Continetal tire with M13 Moto.
At the start both GTO teams of BRAWP Racing and Raceworx USA GTO were out like jack rabbits on their Yamaha R1s. While M13 Moto on a Yamaha R7 and Raceworx USA GTL on their Aprilla RS660 were close behind.
After 15 laps the Raceworx USA GTO team pulled in with reported suspension issues. BRAWP Racing gained a 5 lap advantage while Racewrox USA GTO was in the box adjusting the suspension. But BRAWP Racing would come in with the need to change a front tire. Both teams worked tirelessly to get their machines back on track.
Meanwhile the Yamaha R7 of M13 Moto Headed by John McKenzie ran a consistently fast lap and stayed on top of their pitstops with Raceworx USA GTL Headed by Johnathan Roacha was close behind. By lap 47 BRAWP Racing and Raceworx GTO both were able to get their machines back on track. However the speed of the R1s were no match with the consistent laps of the GTL teams and the gap between the GTL teams and GTO teams was insurmountable.
Due to time limits, the race was shortened to 250 miles and resulted in M13 Moto finishing 1st overall followed by Raceworx USA GTL, BRAWP Racing, and Raceworx USA GTO.
GTO Results
1st BRAWP Racing
2nd RACEWORX USA GTO
GTL Results
1st M13 Moto
2nd Raceworx USA GTL
Winners circle was just as exciting as Saturday with trophys and champagne all around. With great announcing by Alan Blair, Tasty coffee by Headcount Coffee keeping everyone sharp and Alert, and the riders and teams who endured the distance races, the weekend was overall exciting and enjoyable.
Round 2 is in 7 weeks at NOLA Motorsports Park May 10th and 11th. With these teams and perhaps more on the grid, this year can only get more exhilarating.
Thanks to everyone who came out the the Ronnie Lunsford Trophy Cup inaugural race!
