I posted this 2 years ago today. I feel the same exact way currently.

Let me let you in on a little secret, a college coach wants a catcher that can LEAD her defense.
They can teach you to block, they can teach you to throw, they can teach to frame- but learning to LEAD takes time. It takes commitment, it takes getting uncomfortable.
The greatest athletes find a way to get comfortable in the most uncomfortable situations.
You, my catcher, are the EYES of the field; you have the BEST view. Your job entails you relaying what you see. You are the constant heart beat. You are in control.
LEAD with your actions & your words. SPRINT onto the field between innings, own up to your mistakes, call timely timeouts, work hard with an umpire to learn and perfect the strike zone each and every game, get to know your pitchers as individuals & be the hardest working person on the dirt.
A catcher's role is selfless, under taught, under appreciated- YET, SO VERY VERY IMPORTANT.
OWN YOUR ROLE, LEAD YOUR TEAM.
