I don’t care what the internet says, racing is hard. It takes all you’ve got and it just asks for more.
——
And I don’t just mean money. It takes money to be competitive in anything. I mean it takes ALL you’ve got. All your patience, all your time, all your friends, all your frustration, all your drive, and when you’re all tapped out it still isn’t enough. It’s just flat out hard to give everything that racing asks for.
——
Parts don’t fit. Parts get delayed. Parts fail. Parts never get any cheaper. There’s always one “last” piece of the puzzle. One last brown box until we get to lie to ourselves and say that our race car is “done”.
——
None of this is a secret, although a lot of people make it seem like it’s just another plain ole Tuesday. Racing is hard even for the who seem to have it all figured out. No matter what they say, what their posts make it out to be, racing is just damn hard.
——
But...Something made you start this obsession. Something made you hungry. Something made you passionate. Something made you start pushing for progress even though you knew it’d be hard.
——
Remember when you started. Remember where you have come from. Remember what that something, that fire, that hunger was for you. Remember who told you that you couldn’t do the things you’ve already done. Remember how much it means to you. Remember why it’s important to push yourself even when you think you’re all out of push.
——
Find your fire and keep it lit. Feed the hunger that lasts all week to finish in seconds on race day. Fear the failure if you quit now with so much left to do. Flee from negative people who only slow you down mentally. Find a way through it all to race anyway.
——
Racing is hard. But if you surround yourself with the right people, push through the challenges, overcome the setbacks, and learn from what goes wrong...it’s worth it. Racing is worth it.
