We had the pleasure of hosting the Connersville Fire Department on their river training exercise today.

The recent tragic flooding in Texas emphasizes the importance of river safety and our first responders having the right equipment and training to be able to respond effectively in times of crisis.

Those who use the river should always follow standard safety guidelines to help minimize the risks associated with kayaking and tubing.

*Always wear a life jacket

*Know how to swim

*Paddle or float with a friend

*Be award of your surroundings- including other watercraft and potential hazards

*Wear Bright Clothing

*Check the weather forecast before heading out

*Operating equipment on the river under the influence of alcohol or drugs is illegal and dangerous

*Closely supervise children in your group on the river

*Learn self-rescue techniques - practice self-rescue skills like re-entering your kayak or tube after capsizing

Yesterday July 3rd we had a couple guys go out and they lost their kayaks. We know one went down river and got caught on bank near 3 mile. One was able to be retrieved. We are hoping someone out there came across the other one and can contact us. We will be happy to come pick it
