Your Connersville High School Boys Basketball players participated in the annual parade to kick off the Fayette County Free Fair.

The boys had a great time interacting with the community. Many young boys and girls got to shoot some hoops whenever our float stopped!

We look forward to continuing to give back to the community and building the excitement around the game we love.

Big shoutout to our very own Owen Henderson, Chase Corder, Grady Simpkins, and Kooper Montgomery!

These four joined Coach Peterson at Sophie Cunningham’s Pro Camp! Sophie is a key player on the Indiana Fever and has been having a great season!

Our boys are very grateful for this opportunity. They will take any chance to teach the game they love!

Charlie Hughes Shootout Update, Day 2 (6/27):

This past Saturday, your Spartan Boys Basketball Team competed in the second day of the Charlie Hughes Classic at Carmel High School.

- Game 1: In a rematch from just two weeks prior, the boys got another look at an Eastern Hancock team that required late game heroics to defeat. This time around the Spartans delivered an all around performance. This group came out with a chip on their shoulder and led the game wire to wire. Resulting in a 69-58 Spartans victory!

- Game 2: The final game of the weekend matched the Spartans with the Dragons of New Palestine. This was a game of runs. A strong start for Connersville was matched by an impressive run from New Pal to give them a lead going into the intermission. The Spartans battled back, cutting the lead to as little as 2 points in the third quarter. However, the Dragons were able to seize momentum of the game and would go on to win the contest 60-45.

Overall, this was a fantastic weekend for this team. They showed the ability to compete with high level competition. More importantly, the boys were able to gel and make memories as a team. Your Varsity Spartans ended the summer with an overall record of 15-8!

Coach Peterson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into the program. We are very excited to get to work and we plan on upholding the program’s standard of excellence.

Charlie Hughes Shootout Update‼️⚪️🔴:

Your Varsity Boys Basketball Team went 2-0 on day 1 of the Charlie Hughes Shootout!

- Game 1: The Spartans avenged an earlier summer loss to Evansville Bosse. This was a very physical game where neither team led by more than 6 points. Senior Jacob Laughlin hit the go ahead shot with just 4 seconds left. The Spartans would hold on to a 69-68 win!

- Game 2: This game placed us against Gary 21st Century Charter. Another physical matchup that tested our toughness. The Spartans led wire to wire, with a late push by 21st making the game interesting down the stretch. A 60-54 Spartan victory!

This group heads back up for day 2, tomorrow. Matchups against Eastern Hancock(2:55), and New Palestine(6:30) are on the slate.

Leadership isn't just about what shows up on the stat sheet it’s about presence, consistency, and making everyone on the court better. This weekend, Luke Brewer showed exactly what it means to lead the Spartans.

From his presence on the defensive side of the ball to his role as a consistent, trustworthy ball handler under pressure, Luke's court leadership was the driving force for the team.

Spartan Boys Basketball Update 🔴⚪️‼️:

Your JV/Varsity Boys Basketball teams headed back up to Marion today to participate in a shootout at Indiana Wesleyan!

Varsity:
- This group went 2-1 on the day. The boys started the day with a big win over an athletic, tough, Elkhart team. The boys rallied from an early deficit and would go on to win the game 46-37!
-In the second contest, the Spartans played Mishawaka Marion. This was another hard fought, physical game. The group battled to the end but would go on to lose 46-41.
- The third and final game offered Frankfort as the opponent. The Spartans jumped on this group early and maintained a double digit lead for a majority of the game. Resulting in a 47-31 Connersville victory!

Junior Varsity:
- This group battled hard but finished the day 0-3. They were competitive every game and flashed several bright spots.

Next up for your Spartan Boys Basketball Program is a slate of games in the Charlie Hughes Shootout(Varsity) and action at the Fishers Shootout(9th/JV). Both of these will take place this coming Friday/Saturday. More details to come!
