Walked into the shop today to see a puddle of power steering fluid on the floor. Might be a wing and a prayer type of night tomorrow if the rain holds off.

Don’t quite understand why we race each other so hard in races that don’t count for points or money. Seems like something a squirrel would do. But anyway, I won the heat race last week 😂

Had a pretty good night at the track. Car was decent in practice, tried experimenting with some different tire combinations and learned a little but still trying to hone in on getting the balance right without taking it over the edge. Started 2nd in the heat race and got super tight but was able to grab the win. Made some air pressure adjustments before the feature and started 2nd. Car responded nicely and was able to get to the lead on lap 1 and lead a few laps before I made a mistake and let Mike Bakalon get under me for the pass. Got to spend the next ten or so laps right behind Mike trying to learn as much as I could before the car started to get tight again and faded and fell back to 4th where it was brought home.

Going in the right direction so I’ll take it. Thanks first to Kelly for her support and everything she does so I can go drive race cars while she chases the kids around. Second, my dad. Without his help in the shop trying to wrap our heads and hands around the power steering issues there is a zero percent chance I make it to the track this week. Everyone who stops by at the track and offers a helping a hand — between the Eastman guys, the Gracan team, the 48 guys — I can’t begin to explain how much I appreciate it.

Last but not least:

I’ve had a bit of time to process this and we are all going to miss Kyle the racer. The guy who took no holds barred and did whatever it took to win. I can’t stop thinking about Kyle the dad. The guy who was doing whatever it took to show his son the ropes and prepare him for every level he was going to encounter. Kyle the husband who obviously loved his wife so much. This one is tough. A guy who seemed larger than life is somehow gone far too early. Life is fickle. RIP.

We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport's greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.

No racing this weekend means I better get down to Connellsville Beer Warehouse!

We are Berry excited about this one!

Yeah, looks like a soggy weekend ahead unfortunately.

Replacing power steering parts and components this week as a result of last week’s issues. Also replacing ripped up driving gloves this week as a result of last week’s issues 😂.

Eventful night at the race track to say the least. Unloaded for practice and completely lost power steering after two laps. Brought it in and started loading up to go home but very glad Bob Eastman and his crew who was parked next to me talked me into pulling the car off the trailer and trying some fixes. Went out for practice 2 and didn’t have full steering but it was enough that I felt like I could work with. The more encouraging part was the car handling great and ended up 3rd quick in the session. Started 2nd in the heat race and got tight quickly since most of the time was spent addressing the power steering issue and not the plummeting track temperature and ended up 3rd. Started 4th in the feature and was holding ground until I lost all power steering for good on lap 8. Was still in the game until I got punted by some late model driver and fell back to 7th where it was brought home. Thank you to the entire Eastman team, the entire Gracan team, and everyone else that popped in to make sure I was good. Glad Chris Brink is ok. Going to figure out this power steering deal and we’ll be back stronger than ever.
