🏁❤️ 41 Years of Tradition ❤️🏁
As another Ashtabula County Soap Box Derby comes to a close, we are reminded just how special this event truly is.
For 41 years, families have gathered Father’s Day weekend to race cars, cheer from the sidelines, make lifelong friendships, and create memories that span generations. What started decades ago continues today because of a community that believes in supporting its kids and preserving a hometown tradition.
We would like to extend our deepest thanks to our Derby Director, Tracy Welton, and his wife Kelly, along with the entire Welton family. The countless hours spent throughout the year planning, organizing, fundraising, preparing the track, and coordinating race weekend are truly appreciated. Their dedication helps ensure this tradition continues for future generations.
We would also like to recognize our Race Day Committee—Rick Wolfe, Rod Eldred, Travis Hayes, and Bryan Welton—for their commitment to running a fair, safe, and successful race. Their attention to detail and dedication to the integrity of the Derby help make race day possible.
A special thank you goes to Keri Hayes, Rachel Eldred, Jenna Wolfe, and Alexis Rhodes for keeping everything running smoothly inside the trailer. From announcing races and managing heat sheets to calling cars and handling race operations, their hard work keeps the day moving from start to finish.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Keith Schreiber and the continued support of Conneaut Dairy Queen. Your generosity and commitment to our program have helped make this event possible year after year.
A huge thank you to our race families. From building and maintaining cars to volunteering, fundraising, attending inspections, helping with setup and teardown, and supporting racers through every challenge and victory, you are the heart of this program.

As we pack up the trailers and store away the equipment for another year, we are already looking forward to next June. The Ashtabula County Soap Box Derby has always been about more than racing—it’s about community, tradition, teamwork, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
