As the volunteer secretary of the Monroe Sportsman’s Club, I handle memberships—collecting dues, sending out cards, and keeping everything organized. All of us on the board have full‑time jobs, so we fit club duties in as we can. I check the PO Box about once a week, give or take, depending on my schedule.
Membership cards go out as soon as I receive your check. However, checks may not be cashed for up to six weeks because I turn them in to the treasurer at our monthly meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.
I’ve gotten a few emails lately asking why checks haven’t cleared yet—even for payments mailed only two weeks ago—so I wanted to share this quick explanation of how the process works.

We would like to thank everyone again for coming out last night to our reverse raffle and for all the continued support for our club. We could not do what we do without you.

Club dues were due on December 31st, and so far only about half of our members have submitted their payments. Sending out reminder notices takes considerable extra time, so we’re asking everyone who hasn’t paid yet to please take care of it promptly. Your cooperation helps keep everything running smoothly for the whole club.

📬 Reminder about Dues Payments
Please mail your dues to the address listed on the notice you'll receive. That’s the best way to ensure your payment is processed promptly and accurately.
💡 Handing your payment to someone at the club—usually Ron—might cause delays. I only see Ron at our monthly meetings, and if either of us misses one, your check could sit unprocessed for a while.
🚫 Cash at the club? Risky business. I often get a sticky note with just a name—sometimes illegible, and sometimes shared by more than one member. That makes tracking tough.
Thanks for helping keep things smooth and organized!

📬 2026 Dues Update
Dues notices will be sent out by the end of the month. Like everything else—stamps, taxes, electricity—club costs are going up. To help cover these increases, we’re raising dues by $5.
New Rates:
- Seniors (65+): $50
- Non-seniors: $80
Just a reminder: no one gets paid to run the club. We do it because we love being part of it—and we appreciate you being part of it too.

If you want to pay your dues now and save us the cost of a stamp, mail a check or money order payable to The Monroe Sportsman's Club to:

🎯 Trap Shooting Event – We Need Volunteers!
Our next event is Saturday, Sept. 13th from 9:30 AM to around 4:00 PM, and we need help to keep things running smoothly.
We’re looking for folks to assist with scoring and loading trap houses.
🟢 No experience needed—training provided on-site. Show up, ask for Ron and tell him you are here to volunteer.
Over time, we’ve lost many of our regular helpers due to moves and school schedules. Without volunteers, we can’t run events—and without events, the club can’t stay afloat.
💰 Event fees help cover rising costs like insurance and property maintenance.
💪 Nobody gets paid. We do this for the love of the sport and the community.
If you’ve ever said “I’ll help out someday,” this is that day.
Just show up at 9:30 AM on Sept. 13th—no signup, no comment, no fuss.
Let’s keep the targets flying and the club alive. See you there
