Nice to have familar faces and friends on board today for the last charter aboard Happy Daze. Tried for Steelhead around the harbor first thing in the morning but no takers. Headed off shore for walleye and it was a nice steady pick without running board lines. Planning on making a meat run tomorrow with mom and the boys for the last trip on Happy Daze 😢. Meet the new “Happy Daze”. Its a 2008 Sailfish 2660 WAC with twin 150 Yamahas. Sailfish boats are known for their quality, seaworthiness, and soft ride. Should have more room for charters and still easily trailerable for us to fish Ontario. Needs a good cleaning, waxing and a little new rigging and it’ll be ready for 2026. Lots of work to do this winter.

The time has come to move on to another boat. Happy Daze has given us 17 years of making memories, meeting new friends, and pulling thousands of fish over the transom. Everyone knows I have been looking for a while, but the right boat has came along and I was lucky enough to bring it home this weekend. I will be working diligently this off season getting it ready to be another fishing machine. I will be running the remainder of my charters on the old girl, but hope to get the new boat out for some fun fishing this fall. I know the old boat will make someone very happy and start making new memories for them. I know I am going to miss her but I’m also anxious to start fishing the new boat. If anyone knows anyone looking for a turn key trailerable boat with newer power, send them my way.

Returning customer Dana, aka the “Hay Seed” brought his son Jared and Tony along this morning. Today was Tony’s first Lake Erie experience and was pretty impressed to say the least. Great quality of fish this morning on Happy Daze! Long time customer Abe brought his crew for their annual trip. 8 year old Bennett was unbelievable on the rods this morning. I couldn’t believe how well he did at reeling and seeing when the fish bit. Great job buddy! Always a great day with this crew on a beautiful lake. Had a great family friend in town this week from Colorado that hasnt been out on Erie in years. Had to let him see how good it has really gotten. Took him on a quick evening trip after work Friday and he couldn’t believe it. Not many pictures but the time together was priceless

What do you do on a beautiful day when your booked charter stiffs you? Go fishing of course , lol 😂. Got to put some meat in the freezer today. Maw joined us with her homemade blueberry muffins for breakfast and we picked up “Scotty” the port of Conneaut Legend to whack another 30 eyes in no time. Another trip with no board lines 😁. Fun day with lunch at Sparkys to cap it all off.

Long time repeat customers Hoot, Dave and Skip made short work of their share of Lake Erie Bounty this morning. Only ran 4 divers and 2 riggers to do the damage. Jerry, Glen and Chris joined us this morning all the way from Indianapolis and Portage, Indiana. Their first walleye trip on Lake Erie left them blown away with the quality of resource we have in our backyard. Unbelievable fishing continues with a few steelhead showing up to the party.
