We will be selling restored gauges on E-Bay before my retirement next year. My customers need to know the cost of each gauge depends on two things....rarity and faceplates. OEM UN restored mint face plates are very rare. We don't have that many left, so when they are gone....they are gone. The 72 Z1 OEM face plates are the rarest of all....so if you see a "made in 72" Z1 restored gauge for sale.......don't pass them up. Next rarest would be restored 72 face plates. And after that the 72-73 and 74 replica face plate gauges. Any replica Speedo face plate with bevel cutouts for the mileage and trip wheels cost more than the Tach faceplates. The least expensive restored gauge we sell is about $287.00 USD and most expensive restored gauge we sell is $550.00. No trade in required on selling our restored gauges.

As always....restoring the customers gauge is the cheapest way to have like new gauges again. If the customers gauges work and don't require any parts....it's still $149.00 USD each to restore. Remember that Z-Resto polishes the brass screws and the brand new connector ring which no one else does. We also supply a brand new top black cover...new glass...and a new glass rubber seal,.. on every gauge resto we do...which no one else does either. That is all included in the $149.00 each gauge resto price.

I'll be retiring around April of 2025. It's been a pleasure restoring gauges since 2001....but it's time to pass this on to someone else.

Warning !!!!! Do not use USPS to ship anything International or Domestic to Georgia. USPS built a new distribution facility in Palmetto Georgia..and NOW anything that gets delivered to any address in Georgia from out of state, or out of country, goes directly to Palmetto for distribution. This new facility is so screwed up that trucks are backed up for MILES and MILES. The word is that they are at least THREE WEEKS behind in sorting and delivery to the appropriate Zip Code Post Offices.
Yes my parts from Japan are lost.

Spead the word to anyone that expects a parcel from overseas or out of state. Use UPS or Fed Ex until these fools figure out how to run the new USPS facility.

We have a few competitors restoring KZ 650- Z1 900-KZ 1000 gauges but not a one of them offers the customer a brand new black powder coated top cover, new glass, new glass seal, polished screws...or a machine polished connector ring like we do at Z-Resto, for EVERY gauge restoration. All of that is included in the $149.00 each gauge restoration price. Plus if you need replica face plates...drive units, connector rings, or any other gauge parts....we have them all, in stock, all the time. And if you don't have ANY gauges for your bike...we sell OEM restored gauges for any year KZ650...Z1....KZ900....KZ1000....or Z1R. Turnaround time? No one beats us at that either. Turnaround time when busy is 8 days. When not so busy ...3 days. Next time you select a gauge restorer...ask yourself if you want top covers that are patched up with bondo and then painted.....un polished old connector rings...old scratched glass lens,....dry rotted rubber seals etc etc. We know the answer. No one beats Z-Resto on cost or quality or turnaround time.

Z-Resto is well aware of rising costs and inflation so we try everything we can to keep the cost of gauge restoration as low as possible. With that in mind....we discovered that with the cost of new tops from Europe and all the labor it takes for us to powder coat the new top covers...it's actually CHEAPER to source tops elsewhere, and to have them professionally powder coated. Now we wish to pass the savings on to our customers....so as of Feb. 9th, 2024 ...Gauge restoration is now $149.00 USD each.. plus the cost of replica face plates if needed The new top black gauge cover powder coat is flawless....and looks better than when we did the powder coating. We are thrilled now that we can supply a much better product at a cheaper price.
Cheers

You would think that restoring KZ-650-900-1000 and Z1R gauges would be the same since 2001 when we started....but that's far from accurate. In the beginning we only used real OEM face plates for all our customers. This included repainting the red line area on the Tach. In 23 years no one but Z-Resto has ever figured out how to repaint that redline and the correct color orange to do it with. We can still do that...but now....our customers demand a faceplate that looks brand new, so we use replica faceplates on 90% of our restorations. Speaking of faceplates...we used to take original faceplates that were badly faded...sand off all the paint....and send them out to be silkscreened. They looked great...but finding people who can silkscreen and are reasonably priced AND reliable, ended up being impossible....not to mention all the time it took to accomplish. Over the years replica faceplates were being made by 20 companies,...and we tried them all. Turns out that 99% of replica face plates were unacceptable for us to use. Now we use perfect replica faceplates from one maker...and yes they have the ND in the correct place.
Years ago, we painted the OEM black top covers. We had to wire wheel all the black, and the rust off the customers cover....bondo and sand all the dents....paint with primer...then sealer...then two coats of black paint. They were nice...but not durable. After done...we had to wait 2 days for the paint to cure before shipping. I'm still tired just thinking about all the bondo,,sanding and painting. After 50 years....re usable OEM black tops were getting very rare...and then FINNALLY about 4 years ago we found a place that sells BRAND NEW gauge tops. These parts are rust free..and dent free, which means we can now powder coat the tops and these will last another 50 years.
So now.....all our gauge restoration customers get a brand new powder coated top cover....perfect ...period correct faceplates....machine polished connector rings....and fast service. Our turnaround time average is 6 days. No other gauge restorer can match that.

The old Z-Resto.com website {since 2001} is no more. Seems the Server and the Server owner took a dump, and it was all lost. I have re purchased the Domain name Z-Resto.com and the new site is under construction. In the mean time, customers can contact me here on Facebook....or the preferred method is via my e-mail > [email protected]
Thank you to our customers who advised us that they could not find Z-Resto.com on the Internet. It may take a week or so to get the new website up to date with all the gauge restoration info you may need.

You may not be aware....but back in the early 90's....Kawasaki commissioned ND {gauge maker} to re make 73-74-75-and 76 gauges because the demand was so high from collectors. The cost of these new gauges was $453.00 USD EACH. You can check this on Revzilla. Of course they were sold out and are now "no longer available" to buy. I wonder with todays inflation....how much would they cost today IF they were re made. The inflation calculator says inflation is 126% more than what it cost in 1990. So IF you could buy a genuine, made by ND, new in the box, gauge for your bike.....it would cost $1,026.00 USD......EACH. Factor in that the older the gauge is....the more rare it is....so a made in 72 Speedo or Tach...brand new...never used... is now worth _______??? Who knows.

Happy Holidays to everyone. I haven't posted for a while, so just to prove i'm still alive,...let's talk about the three ways you can have a nice set of gauges on your Z1/KZ900/Z1R.

1. Restore the gauge with original face plates. In this case we clean all the tarnish off the stock plastic face plates and air brush the red line area back in. Install a BRAND NEW top cover and powder coat it black so it lasts for another 50 years. We also polish the OEM connector rings and calibrate the gauge. This is a standard restoration we do on all gauges.
2. Restore the gauge with REPLICA faceplates. IF your face plates are cracked at the screw holes OR they are too badly faded to restore...then we have to use replica face plates to restore them. This option isn't the most ideal way as using OEM face plates...but when you have no other choice we use them. Of course, a gauge with OEM face plates is worth a lot more than a set with replica face plates....but the replica face plates do make the gauge look brand new.
3. Find a set of brand new... in the box NOS gauges for your bike. This is a good idea......,and your best option...... but as of a few years ago.... they are now unobtanium and are worth a fortune.

the CATCH 22 > Can you, or ANY of your bike restoration friends, identify the difference between a brand new never used gauge, from one with a restored OEM face plate, or one with a replica faceplate, or a fake one made in Taiwan?? If not trust the experts... ZResto

Some customers amaze me. They think i have 10 employees, a shipping department, and a staff of customer service representatives. A lot of these customers truly believe that THEY are my only customer...and Z-Resto cannot possibly be that busy. To set the record straight Z-Resto restores between 120 and 200 gauges per year...and I AM THE ONLY EMPLOYEE. Yep....this is a one man operation since 2001 when I started. I don't have time to take pictures of your gauges being restored...or have the time to answer all your 26 E-Mails asking me about tracking numbers and where to get their bike painted or what pipes they should buy. I'M 74 years old..and i'm tired. So give the old guy a break please. By the way the proper spelling is BREAK.....not BRAKE. If you want to give me a brake...i'm too afraid to answer your e-mails. One last thing. If you need your CLOCKS restored...I suggest you find a jewelry store or an appliance repair shop. We only restore GAUGES at Z-Resto.
