On Saturday two Saints baseball players were named to the Class 2 All-State Team. Senior Jaydon Battista was named 2nd Team All-State at the DH/Utility spot and Senior Micah Truwe was named 2nd Team All-State in the outfield.
Battista had a 343 AVG on the year, getting 24 hits and scoring 24 runs while driving in a team-high 32 runs. On the mound Battista went 4-2 on the year pitching a team-high 43 innings, striking-out 48 batters with a 1.63 ERA on the season. Battista was also the team's main SS in the 2nd half of the year playing very good defense at that spot.
Truwe led the team on offense in AVG (362), OBP (506), Hits (25), Home Runs (2), Runs (31), and Stolen Bases (25). He also played a strong Center Field saving multiple runs throughout the year with his range.
Both of these players helped lead a very balanced Saints team to the State Quarterfinals and a 16-7 record. Their season ended to the eventual State Champs, Faith Christian Academy in a superb effort falling 4-2 in 8 innings.
