Had an inspiring experience this past weekend watching Teams of 20 from Iowa and Illinois respectively pull a 680 # rope for 3 minutes at a time across the Mighty Mississippi River (2700 feet) in the mother of all Tug-of-Wars for bragging rights. This year, Illinois won. WOW! I couldn’t help but compare that incredible feat to the teamwork required for one to earn their Black Belt in Martial Arts! It takes ‘individual’ Grit, Goal-Setting, Determination, Effort, Perseverance, and Courage .. all qualities that will benefit someone their entire life. The ‘team’ that is encouraging, supporting, and pulling alongside you can be essential, but the Black Belt can only be awarded to the individual who does the most work 🥋 Choose Wisely!
