We played our hearts out yesterday, but we unfortunately fell short in the first round of the National Championships.

Both matches were incredibly close. I spoke with both Coaches afterwards, and we all agreed that if we played these matches 100 times over, we'd each win 50.

Rocket League had several games go to overtime, and with Smash Bros., every single match went to the last game.

I could not be prouder of our players and everything we accomplished during our first year in GHSA Esports. We won two State Championships and had many teams make deep Playoff runs.

We are competing in the High School Esports National Championships next week!

The PlayVS Cup is a National Tournament comprised of only State Championship winners. When we won the State Championships in Super Smash Bros. and Rocket League in the Fall, we qualified for this prestigious tournament. Winners will receive glory, the pride of being National Champions, and scholarship money!

Rocket League's first round opponent will be the State Champions from New Mexico.
Super Smash Bros.' first round opponent will be the State Champions from Michigan.

If your child likes to play video games or is interested in video games, make sure to have them come to our camp this summer!

This camp is open to all children (even kids not enrolled at Commerce) between the ages of 5 and 14. Campers are provided with lunch each day, a camp t-shirt, and the opportunity to learn about video games from a State Champion program.

Congrats to all of our Smash players this season for playing their hearts out! Varsity, Smash 2, and Smash 3 all showed massive improvements despite us not being back-to-back state champions. We're going to keep grinding and practicing to prepare for the National Tournament, the PlayVS Cup, next month. Every team in the PlayVS Cup will have won their State Championships, so we need to prepare as much as we can to win the whole thing!

Our Varsity Smash Bros. team played an incredibly close match against Kipp Atlanta Collegiate yesterday, but we unfortunately lost. We were capable of winning and likely should have won, but things like a missed input under pressure or an unfortunate unknown interaction in the game affected the outcome. We still have the National Tournament, the PlayVS Cup, to look forward to in May, so we'll keep working hard to improve ourselves leading up to that tournament.
