For those that don't like switcholio, I can go either way but thought this was a good point by Ben, fyi
Been a month or two since someone asked.
Short answer is no. Let me explain why
Hiding the leaderboard will do absolutely nothing. Some of these cheaters are just blowing the first game then winning the next 3. They are NOT threading some needle to get a specific partner. There is no way that someone can look at a leaderboard, look at all the players left with games needing to be played, look at where everyone is on the leaderboard, and all the scores on 5 courts with 20 players playing and calculating, ok the way this is shaking out I need to score 5 points and lose this game to get Johnny to be my partner.
THEN on top of that relay the information to their partner who maybe is just trying to get into the playoffs to only score 5 points, not 7, not 9 not 2 but 5 so he can get Johnny.
What they are doing is simply losing a game. May not even be the last game. Could be the first, could be the third.
The main reason for the NO is because me, a player that comes for fun and knows he has about a 1% chance of winning, LOVES the leaderboard. And most likely there are 95% of the players that are just like me. Only 5-10 players win every week and most likely they are the ones that are cheating.
So hiding the leaderboard does what? Doesn’t stop them from blowing a game. But it ruins the experience for 90-95% of the players that come out to have fun and like seeing their stats and the leaderboard. Why ruin the experience for 90% of your players because Billy is an as***le?
Better plan: use additional brackets. Take the top 8 to a championship bracket that pays more. Then everyone else below that to a lower bracket that pays less. Let’s see Billy sandbag his way out of the main bracket.
There is the long answer. Want more ways to solve your Billy being a jerk issue? Click the search up top in this group and type in “hide the leaderboard” you will see answers to the last 10 times this has been requested. Lots of organizers have great answers for how they handle their Billy’s
Remember it’s only your best players that are sandbagging the other 95% of don’t lose on purpose, we just lose. But we are there for fun and provide 95% of the prize pot.
