This past season has had it's ups and downs, but I wouldn't change it for anything. We have lost a long time beloved player to cancer, A.J. "Hot Pepper" Ruiz retired after the Ohio Cup, as well as Tyler "Baby Bone" Hedrick, Drew "Professor Bone" Hedrick, Michael "Sawbone" Hedrick, Zack"Babe" Calabretta" and Kolton"Thor" Wilson retired at the end of the season, we will look dramatically different next year. We have enjoyed the years with these fine gentlemen and wish nothing but the best in their future endeavors. The Columbus Buckeyes have had a great run as an 1867 team, but now must pivot. We will no longer be playing 1867 rules base ball and have removed ourselves from all 1867 events, including not accepting our automatic bid to the 2027 World Tournament. The Buckeyes are not going anywhere, we are evolving.

The Columbus Buckeyes finished their season at the Tipp Cup. We got to take the field against the Ohio 9, Cincinnati Buckeyes, and the Dayton Clodbusters. The Buckeyes fell to both the Buckeyes and Clodbusters. I would like to thank Robert Daily for driving 2 hours to join us to give us 9, despite having a torn miniscus that requires surgery. That's what friends are really about. I'd like to thank Christian Cunningham for pitching for the first time ever. It's tough to do when they start calling balls, but no strikes in a game where the umpire doesn't call balls and strikes. 1860? Oh well. We appreciate you and your effort considering not having a pitcher in lineup and missing so many players. I was proud of the way we still played, and proud of the season with the challenges we have faced. Only the Buckeyes know, but we will be back. Buckeye Strong!

We will spend Saturday evening sharing stories and celebrating the life of Mike Clark. "Cannon Ball" has been a friend and member of the Columbus Buckeyes for almost 16 years. It will be a hard day for us all, but will be great to hear stories about Mikey with friends and family. It has been a tough year for us, but I know he would want us to move on. I always tell the players, love eachother, the game we play and never forget that we never know when our last game will be. Love and miss you Mikey. I'm sure "Britches" was there to greet you on the field.

The 2026 Ohio Cup has come and gone and it was a glorious weekend of base ball with friends and family. It was our first cup without our pitcher Mikey "Cannonball" Clark and it was the last game for our stellar second baseman A.J. "Hot Pepper" Ruiz. The Columbus Buckeyes wanted to send him out on the right note playing stellar defense and striking the ball well. Playing the Detroit Franklins, St. Louis Maroons, the Wahoo BBC, and the Indianapolis Blues, the Buckeyes only surrendered 6 runs over 4 games, while tallying 54 runs. We will miss taking the field with both these players. Much love to all the teams, players, and families that made this happen. Thank you to Michael Hedrick's nephew, and Daniel Carey for joining us on the field of play. Next stop.....the Tippecanoe Cup!

It is with a heavy heart, our friend, our teammate, our brother, Mike "Cannon Ball" Clark has passed away after a short battle with cancer. Cancer SUCKS! Words cannot express the love we have for this man. He was a great friend and Buckeye for the past 16 years. He was with us from almost the beginning, hauling everything to the field, helping out financially, helping set up and pitching for our team. I am at a loss for words right now, but will find them as we go through the grieving process. Love eachother and remember, you don't know when the last time you'll take the field with someone.

Your Columbus Buckeyes finished the 2nd day of the World Tournament of Vintage Base Ball, by besting the Lah De Dahs and the Oregon Ganymedes Vintage Baseball to claim the 3rd Class Championship. As we now rest and heal up, look forward to meeting us and watching us play at the Ohio Cup this Labor Day weekend in Westerville, Ohio. We will be playing 3 games on Sunday. Free to attend.
