We had our first run at chair volleyball! No one will be competing for major league volleyball, but it was sure a lot of fun!

Four years.

Looking at these two photos side by side fills my heart with so many emotions. What started as a small group with a big dream has grown into something I could have never fully imagined.

I'm incredibly proud—not because of the numbers… because this disease sucks… but because every person in these photos represents courage, determination, friendship, hope, and the decision to keep showing up, even when Parkinson's makes that difficult.

I am deeply humbled that so many families have trusted PDNextSteps to be part of their journey. Watching this community grow has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

There have been long days, challenges, and moments of wondering if we were doing enough. But then I look at these pictures and I'm reminded that every class, every conversation, every laugh, every victory—big or small—has mattered.

To our members, care partners, volunteers, instructors, board members, and everyone who has believed in this mission... thank you. You are the reason this community continues to grow and thrive.

My heart is full. I'm grateful beyond words, and I'm so excited for what the future holds.

We are so fortunate to have the amazing Nicole Wiksten, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S at the gym today with her students doing swallowing screenings for our members.

We truly believe that knowledge is power, and this is a great example of being aware of an issue and having the ability to get further evaluation and/or treatment!

Relationships like these help solidify our mission here at Changing Parkinsons….to help Parkinson's patients live their best lives by lessening the fear of the disease through education, exercise, and community. 💜

Every week, more than 120 people living with Parkinson’s walk through our doors to take part in the 22 different classes we offer designed to improve strength, balance, mobility, confidence, and quality of life.

But what keeps people coming back isn’t just the workout...

It’s the community.

It’s knowing someone is cheering for you.
It’s laughing together.
It’s celebrating every victory—big or small.
It’s realizing you’re never facing Parkinson’s alone.

This is what pDNextSteps is all about: moving with purpose, supporting one another, and proving every single day that there is so much life to be lived.

If you or someone you love is living with Parkinson’s, we’d love to welcome you into our Changing Parkinson’s family.

Come see what makes this community so special.

More truth 💣 from Jimmy Choi - Fox Ninja!

Yup. I said what I said.

I’m not saying everyone has the same abilities or that they should.

Parkinson’s affects everyone differently, and many people have significant limitations. What I’m saying is that almost everyone has some capacity to improve their health, whether that’s physical therapy, chair exercises, breathing exercises, stretching, nutrition, sleep, stress management, or whatever is appropriate for their situation. My concern isn’t with people who can’t do more. It’s with our tendency to look for a shortcut before we’ve fully invested in the things we know can help.

I’m speaking from experience. Early after my diagnosis, I chased the next supplement, gadget, and ‘breakthrough’ because I wanted a ‘silver bullet’. I wasn’t looking for the hard answer at all. I was looking for the easy one. It wasn’t until I committed to exercise and changing my lifestyle that I experienced the biggest improvements in my own quality of life. That’s why I’m so passionate about encouraging people not to overlook the fundamentals.

Use every tool available but in complimentary fashion and understand to your best ability what they are actually doing for you. Medication, supplements if you choose, technology, clinical trials. I’m not against any of those. But if exercise and healthy lifestyle habits aren’t part of your plan, you may not have explored every evidence-based option yet.
