Today is my favorite baseball player's birthday and 2nd fave athlete of all time.
Happy Birthday Wade Boggs!
Mr. Consistency
Diagnosed with prostate cancer in late 2024, 2025 he was cancer-free. Nothing can stop himπ₯°
Known as the Chicken Man due to eating chicken before every single game.(all 2432 of them)
He actually gets mentioned in our house almost daily. Sylvester Stallone is the only one who gets mentioned more.
328 career batting average ranks 33rd all-time. And is actually #1 for former players still alive.
Won 5 batting titles, 4 of them in a row with only Gwynn, Carew, Cobb, and Hornsby to accomplish that feat and actually his rookie year led the league with a .349 average but missed the minimum plate appearances. Still has the highest batting average at Fenway park (.369). Had 7 straight 200 hit seasons (2nd all time to Suzuki).
He is the last player over a 162-game span (1985-1986) to hit over .400.
He was a huge believer in visualization. Visualizing himself having 4 at bats and getting 4 hits. He woke at the same time each day, again always ate chicken before a game, always ran the exact same route from the dugout to his 3rd base position, he ran sprints everyday at 7:17 pm, every at bat he drew the word 'chai' (life) into the batter's box.
First player to ever get his 3000th hit as a homerun. He only had 1 season above 20 homers.
And inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005. Still one of my biggest regrets ever was not going because I had to start a new job the next day, that I kept for 21 days. But I'd still like to find the 8.1% of voters who thought that he did not deserve to be a first ballot Hall of famer
Consistency wins.
I talk about it all the time.
There are no super men or super women. There are only men and women who routinely engage in habits/routines/rituals daily that either take us to what we want or move us towards something we don't want.
As a baseball player the ultimate as an individual is to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
However in most people's lives they don't have that dedicated direction or a job that pays as well as when you are an All-star major leaguer to simply be that focused.
But the good thing is habits can be formed any time.
Bad ones can be broken any time.
If things are not going your way now or haven't been for awhile, don't fret.
I coach people to a better self...
But more importantly I coach myself and have other's coaching me to my better self.
Basically, finding the correct path for you and your soul
I hate it when other so-called 'coaches', especially in the health field, don't look the part and don't engage in what they 'coach'.
