Comprised entirely of Ohio State students, our team's goal is to design, build, and race competitive, fully electric motorcycles at national and international competitions. Although our team is mostly undergraduate students, our ty
pical competition is not. They are privateers and factory teams with budgets reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars, while we operate on a fraction of that. However, all of us have one thing in common: a dream to showcase the sustainable future of motorsports and automotive technology in a way that excites fans and inspires innovation. Today, hybrid-electric vehicles are not uncommon on the road, and fully electric vehicles are now emerging in the marketplace. However, they represent only a small fraction of vehicles on the road. Our team hopes that our research and development will assist in remedying this situation and help in creating the driving force that would generate a larger demand for electric vehicles in the market. In addition to supporting innovation in a new and exciting field, Buckeye Current also serves as an invaluable supplement to the education of the Ohio State students associated with the team, giving them an opportunity to learn things they couldn't in a classroom setting and become the future of automotive engineering.
