Jason Lowentritt from New Orleans (and his brother Josh) were among a bunch of boys who made their way to TrailRidge in 1982. That was the first year. Not only was the camp very rustic, there weren't even any cabins. Boys slept in tents...every night. We had record rain. It was not an easy exposure to life at a summer camp.
But these first boys had come up to help us build the camp. They received t-shirts with the slogan "I Blazed the Trail" across the top. And that they did.
Jason just reported August 26, 2026 that he found this in his old childhood bedroom closet when he was helping to clean things out. He says, "We really did blaze a trail that summer."
