Out of Ohio State’s 36 Division l athletic teams, two Buckeyes separated themselves from the rest over the past year.

Caleb Downs and Joy Dunne, of football and women’s ice hockey, respectively, were named Ohio State’s 2025-26 Athletes of the Year Monday.

The award becomes the latest honor for Downs, an all-American, and Dunne, an Olympic gold medalist, who each won a national championship during their storied Buckeye careers.

Congratulations to former RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna student-athlete Sara Swiderski on being selected in the first round, ninth overall at the 2026 PWHL Draft!

Dynasty...

Headed by THE Coach at THE Ohio State University, who has guided four of her student-athletes to win THE Ohio State Athletic Department Female Athlete of the Year.

In her ten seasons at the helm of THE Buckeyes, her players have been awarded this honor five times. In the past seven seasons, Jincy Dunne, Sophie Jaques (x2), Makenna Webster, and Joy Dunne (who was named this week) have won the award.

Where Is She Going?

Congratulations to Brooke Disher on being the 32nd pick in Round #3 by the Toronto Sceptres. Brooke will be joining fellow Buckeyes: Natalie Spooner, Reagan Kirk, and Kiara Zanon.

Last week marked the final goodbye for our seniors as their names were called in the PWHL Draft. Once again, we thank our five seniors for the memories, championships, and the legacy this class has left behind.
