🎉🎉We are excited to announce that Saturday, July 18 at The Waxahatchee Marina is the 5th Annual Lay Lake Cardboard Boat Regatta! It’s been great seeing the creativity and innovation of the Layke community over the years. With the addition of the Anything But A Boat 🛟and Kid’s Kayak/Canoe races 🛶 there’s a way for everyone to participate!

Let’s all show up and show out to raise some money and donations for Shelby Humane!!

🚨🚨Mark your calendars!! The 5th Annual Lay Lake Cardboard Boat Regatta will be at The Waxahatchee Marina on July 18.
Details below 👇👇👇

➡️It’s FREE to enter. Your donation to Shelby Humane is your entry fee.

➡️ There are 3 EVENTS: the Kid’s Kayak/Canoe Race, Anything But A Boat Race, and the Cardboard Boat Race.

➡️ There are prizes & trophies for race and award winners and door prize drawings will be held for all entries and spectators who make a donation to Shelby Humane.

➡️ We will collect items such as dog/cat food, cat litter, puppy pads, toys, treats, blankets, collars and leashes as well as cash donations for Shelby Humane at the event.

➡️ Prize categories are: Best Design, Best Theme, Best Name, Best Decorated, People’s Choice and the Titanic Award (for most spectacular sinking).


⚠️RULES⚠️
•Cardboard boats must be made with non-coated corrugated cardboard (think moving boxes). No other materials are allowed.
• Your boat can be held together with glue and duct tape.
•You can decorate your boat in any way- themes are encouraged!
• The boat can be only be propelled by paddles, hands or feet.
•All participants must wear a life jacket.

If you didn’t make it to the Lay Lake Cardboard Boat Regatta sponsored by Stephanie Millard, exp Realty this past Saturday, you missed A LOT of fun and laughs!We collected over $1000 & three boxes FULL of food, treats, toys, leashes, collars and more for Shelby Humane.There was fantastic service and even better food from The Waxahatchee Marina! We enjoyed cold treats from Pontoon Pops Ice Cream Boat and checked out the cool Toy Hauler/RV combo from Bish's RV - Calera, Al.

The forecast isn’t looking great for tomorrow afternoon. In the interest of safety (and fun) we are going to move the Lay Lake Cardboard Boat Regatta up a few hours.

We know this is inconvenient for everyone who is planning to participate, but we don’t want another rain out. See the new schedule below and please share this so other participants are aware!
