MOCMSA has always been about doing this sport the right way — for the rider and the horse.

That’s exactly why we built NaSHA.
And yes — it’s us. Same people. Same program. Same horse-first standards.

NaSHA membership is $35/year and includes the digital Shooting Horse Training Manual FREE, plus the members library.

If you want the printed manual too, we’ll ship it free.

If you’ve ever wanted a clear roadmap for building a shooting horse without shortcuts… this is it.

We advance the shooting horse discipline through education, hands-on clinics, and performance tracking tools. Not a sanctioning body—we support riders, trainers, and owners and preserve cross-association earnings history for horses and breeders.

We’ve had quite a few of you asking when our next shooting horse clinic/school will be — so I wanted to share an update and get the details in front of everyone.

For the last several years we’ve hosted Shooting Horse Schools through Missouri CMSA (which we still own and host competitions through). Moving forward, all of our educational opportunities are now being hosted through NaSHA (National Shooting Horse Association) so we can grow the educational side of the sport more intentionally and make resources easier to access in one place.

✅ Our next 1-Gun Shooting Horse School is now open for registration:
May 30–31 (just north of Columbia, MO)
Spots are limited to 8 riders per day — so if you’ve been waiting, this is the one.

Day 1 – Foundation + Gun-Breaking
Day 1 is focused on safe firearm handling, correct exposure, and the riding fundamentals that build a calm, confident shooting horse — cadence, control, start/stop, turning, and forward movement without rushing.

Day 2 – Progression + Putting It Together
If you can stay for Day 2, do it — this is typically when horses and riders really click. After a night of rest, horses come back more settled, riders are clearer, and the biggest progress often happens on that second day as we build into intro pattern work, troubleshooting, and individual next steps.

You can attend one day or both days, and we’ll help you choose the best fit based on where you and your horse are right now.

We can also recommend nearby lodging, and we’ll have a casual Saturday night potluck for anyone staying over.

Hi guys, I think we inadvertently swapped out chairs at our shoot a couple weeks ago. I’m looking for a navy blue standard rocking camping chair, and I have this random kickback guy in its place. Can everyone that was there please look in their trailers so we can swap back at some point? 🫣

As we head into a new season, our team is shifting our training and clinic efforts over to the National Shooting Horse Association (NaSHA) — a growing, board-led organization dedicated to supporting horses and riders through education, earnings tracking, and a community built on horsemanship.

Missouri CMSA will continue to do what it’s always done best — host great competitions and build an incredible shooting community here at home. Our roots are firmly in CMSA, and we’re grateful for the community it’s built and the opportunities it continues to provide. ❤️

We're passionate about helping riders develop skills, giving horses the right start in the shooting horse discipline, and keeping the connection between the two at the center of everything we do.

All future clinic details will live with NaSHA — follow along and stay connected here https://www.facebook.com/nationalshootinghorse/

At NaSHA, we believe the horse sets the standard. Every time we put the horse first, the rider, the sport — and everyone in it — rises higher.

Education, progression, and earnings recognition across the shooting horse discipline.

🎃 Happy Halloween, shooters!

How clever is this costume — especially when you know this horse’s registered name is Cowabunga It’s a Dude! 🐢🤙 Big congratulations to D’Ayn Sayers for taking home the Costume Contest win! Since she was the only one who showed up with true Halloween spirit, she scored both Visa gift cards ($20 each)! 💸👻

Our Spooky Hollow Shoot was an absolute blast — thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a fun weekend! We’d love your feedback… should we make this a yearly thing? 🐴💀

And a special shoutout to our balloon setters, who walked away with the Clean Shooter money — because, well, no one who entered actually shot clean! 😂

Thanks again to all our competitors and volunteers — you made it a weekend to remember!

Our Spooky Hollow shoot might just be become a tradition! ♥️
