“At 67 years old, I never imagined I would find myself thriving in a CrossFit gym. Before this journey, my fitness routine consisted of spin classes four times a week and occasional Boot Camp sessions, high-energy workouts I truly enjoyed. But when those classes ended, I found myself searching for something new.
My son encouraged me to try CrossFit. I hesitated. But he offered a perspective that stayed with me: as we age, building strength is essential, and investing in our health now can help preserve mobility and independence later. He also reminded me that CrossFit is more than just a workout, it’s a community.
What makes this journey even more meaningful is that it spans three generations. My son trains at Revamped whenever he visits from Los Angeles, and he introduced the program to my grandson. Now, I’ve joined them—three generations connected through one fitness community.
When I started, I was intimidated. My first two visits left me thinking it was simply too hard. But everything changed when I experienced the kindness of the people around me. A member named Kara offered encouragement and support during a workout, and that moment showed me this was a place where I belonged.
The coaches at Revamped have been instrumental in my progress. They carefully scale each workout to meet individual needs, ensuring that I am challenged while still feeling supported. Along the way, I’ve experienced powerful breakthrough, especially in overcoming my fear of squatting, which I once avoided due to knee pain. With guidance, I realized the limitation was not physical, but more mental.
One of my most unforgettable moments came during a demanding workout involving runs and kettlebell swings. I was the last to finish and ready to quit. But Coach Mike rallied the entire gym to cheer me on. Surrounded by encouragement, I found the strength to keep going and I finished strong.
CrossFit is not easy. But it has shown me that strength is not defined by age—it’s built through perseverance, community, and belief.” - Sonia
