Today we celebrate an incredible chapter and an even more exciting next adventure.
Ien walked through the doors of Krav Maga Maryland as a 10-year-old kid in late 2011. Over the past 14+ years, he has grown into an instructor, mentor, leader, and an important part of our KMMD family.
When reflecting on his journey, Ien shared that one of the biggest lessons he learned was to embrace uncertainty and be open to every experience. From youth classes and testing, to instructor development, seminars, and teaching students of all backgrounds, he has consistently stepped forward with curiosity, humility, and a willingness to learn.
One of his favorite parts of teaching has been watching brand-new students experience that first “aha” moment. The moment they realize that what they are learning is real, practical, and can truly change their lives. Over the years, Ien has helped countless students reach milestones they never thought possible.
Perhaps most fittingly, the principle he plans to carry with him into his next chapter is one we talk about often: approach difficult situations with an aggressive mindset, trust your foundation, and push forward.
While we’re certainly going to miss having him on the mat, we couldn’t be more excited for what lies ahead. Thank you for your years of dedication, leadership, friendship, and the positive impact you’ve had on this community.
From all of us at KMMD, congratulations and good luck on your next adventure. We know you’re going to do great things.
👊 Once KMMD, Always KMMD.
