Driving home from St. Louis today, I found myself reflecting on what truly anchors me. What nourishes my spirit? When do I feel most at home within myself, especially after a year marked by so much change? While catching up with my best friend on the phone, we both sighed at once: I miss Kripalu. How wonderful it would be to return.

At Kripalu, we gather each day at 4 p.m. to practice. That hour is my sanctuary—a time to breathe deeply, to ground myself, and to gently cross the threshold from day into evening. In the heart of winter, as the light slips away and evening hovers just out of reach, this practice becomes a quiet ritual. Likewise, February’s deep darkness gradually begins to release its hold, and early March offers the first quiet hints of spring’s promise.

Inspired by this, I’ve created a new practice series: Weekend Unwind, Slow Practices for Deep Listening, Sundays 4-5p.

We’ll begin Sunday, just before the Super Bowl, and continue through March 1, right before Daylight Saving Time tempts us to believe winter has ended. I would love for you to join me.

Join Peaceworks, Fellowship of Reconciliation, and 50501 Missouri on Friday evening for CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FOR GOOD: A Peaceful Vigil for Victims of ICE.

We are coming together to honor the life of Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered by an ICE agent, and to remember the many others who have been killed, harmed, detained, or deported by ICE. This candlelight vigil is both a time to remember and honor each life, and to show that people across the United States are watching and calling for accountability.

CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FOR GOOD
We will begin with a moment of silence, followed by the reading of the names of those whose lives were taken by ICE. Several brief speakers will then share their thoughts, and an open mic will be available for anyone who wishes to speak in remembrance or stand in solidarity for justice.

The vigil will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM in Peace Park at the corner of 8th and Elm. We will have some candles, but please bring your own if possible

Reconnect. Soften. Return to your breath.

Move gently through a Kripalu yoga practice that restores from the inside out. Slow the pace, deepen the breath, and settle into a rhythm of awareness and care that meets you exactly where you are: mindful movement, conscious breathing, and restorative rest support unwinding tension and realigning with what feels true.

Listen inward. Honor your limits. Let meditative pacing and intuitive postures guide a practice rooted in compassion rather than striving. Each class creates space for calm, clarity, and a quiet sense of connection that extends beyond the mat.

Practice from home in a supportive online container. This four-week series meets live on Zoom, with recordings available on demand for 30 days.

Led by Susan Mathis, E-RYT 500, RCYT, YACEP, this series offers steady, heart-centered guidance grounded in Kripalu yoga, pranayama, and lived wisdom.
