Sprint Car Hall of Fame Inductee starting his 70th year of racing, first as a driver, then as the owner of one of the most prolific and successful sprint car teams in America. Who would have thought that a simple tool & die maker and car mechanic from rural Indiana, would end up 67 years later still towing the Hazen 57 Sprinter from racetrack to racetrack every weekend throughout the summer. With

nearly 70 drivers hopping behind the wheel over the years, including the first 11 with Paul himself as driver, they amassed an incredible 248 feature wins and 21 Track Championships! Such drivers as Jimmie and Tony Elliott, Rocky Fisher, Lou Mann, Larry Rice, Don Hewitt, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Thomas, Johnny Parsons, Jr., Bryan Clauson, Jon Stanbrough, Shane Cottle, Thomas Meseraull, Clinton Boyles, and Justin Grant have all driven the famous 57 over the years, giving Paul an endless number of stories and memories to last a lifetime. From weekly shows at hometown dirt tracks to the national USAC Sprint Tour, the Hazen 57 has stayed competitive, even without the high-dollar sponsors and benefit of new equipment each year. Now past 80 years old, Paul’s passion for dirt sprint car racing continues on, spending nights in the garage with the team, preparing his beloved 57 for the next season, the next event, the next hot lap session, the next feature race.

Hazey said that you have to be spot on with the setup when the track is hard and slick, but you have a little leeway when it’s wet and tacky. Well, it was hard and slick tonight and although the car and Jack did great, the car was too loose to maintain the quick speed the car had during hot laps and qualifying.
Still, a great learning experience for Jack’s first time at Limaland and Paul’s first time in several years! Jack went from P4 to P3 in the heat, and finished the feature in 4th, making this his 3rd top-5 finish this season in the #57 and 4th top-6 finish in a row!🏁🏁

Next race for the #57 will be Friday, July 3 at Kokomo for their Come Celebrate America Show!🎆🎉

ADDED RACE DATE! This Friday, the #57 and driver, Jack Hoyer, will be headed over to Limaland for their 91st Anniversary Race!🏁
Although it's been several years, the #57 isn't new to the nearby Ohio track. Pictured is Mark Caldwell racing in 1970 and 1978 at Limaland and the trophy that Shane Cottle won at Limaland back on June 9, 2017!

First 3RD PLACE Podium Finish in the #57 for 2026!!🏆🏁🎉
Jack’s redraw started him in P6 for the feature, but he quickly jumped to 5th.  About midway through the race, Jack used both the high side and the low line to maneuver into 4th and then passed Kole Kirkman for 3rd with only 2 laps left. At the finish, it was Rylan Gray for the win, followed by Ricky Lewis and Jack next across the line!
Congratulations Jack on a great run!!
We’re back at it tomorrow night at Kokomo for the Indiana Midget Week Finale.

2nd quick in group qualifying which started us P3 for the heat. With the white flag flying, Jack passed for the lead and the heat win!! On to the redraw for the feature.🏁🏁

Last night’s Montpelier wrap up!🏁

Started out the night great with QuickTime🏆over the field of 39 sprints! Once qualifying was over though, the track turned into a dust bowl with the team wondering each lap if Jack had made it through turns 3 and 4 from where we were sitting in one. He started P4 for the heat and finished in P2, with the redraw at P3 to start the feature.
By feature time, the track was ice slick, and the drivers had to contend with the wall of dust as well. Jack did great considering the conditions and made it to the end unlike several of the other top drivers. He finished P6 out of the 22 starters.
We’re back in action at Montpelier in 2 weeks on Saturday, June 13, with our fingers crossed🤞🏼for improved conditions!
