🥏 COTTONWOOD CREEK: HOLE 5 & COURSE REDESIGN UPDATE

Changes to Hole 5 have been under discussion because of repeated safety incidents near the blind corner. A recent incident involving an elderly park visitor struck in the chest reinforces that ongoing concern. The city has identified this as a safety and liability issue requiring a redesign—and the top improvement priority for the course.

Disc Golf Church, Pikes Peak Flying Disc Club, Outlaws, and Cottonwood Creek Disc Golf Club will meet with the city later this month to work through the plan.

đź“Ť The attached map shows the proposed direction: redirecting Hole 5 toward the current Hole 18 basket area, adjusting nearby holes, and renumbering the affected layout. This approach has strong support among the groups involved; final details and city approval are still in progress.

📏 Based on preliminary measurements, the two 18-hole layouts are essentially the same overall length. The redesign would preserve nearly all the course’s total playing distance while addressing safety.

We know the current fairways on 9 and 18 hold a lot of memories. We’d rather not lose them either. This plan offers opportunities for fun new fairways, added challenge, improved course flow, and better use of the space.

The blue-boxed expansion areas on the map could provide longer fairways in the future. Those are separate discussion items for 2027.
